Prof. Anastakis teaches “The Car in History,” a popular fourth-year History/Canadian Studies course that looks
at business, culture, society and the automobile in North America.“Students love this course and the kind of
history it provides because they can relate to it,” he says.“They are individually affected by the automobile, just
as wider society is. Just as importantly, the engaging and insightful discussions that students have in the course
have provided me with perspectives that I utilize in my own research. This is the kind of integrative teaching
MathemaTICs (B.Sc.)
Mathematics is the exploration of abstract mental universes
and the application of pure reason; it involves logic, not just
numbers. You will learn about the fundamental structure of the
universe and the limits of human reason. Develop a new way
of looking at flowers and plants by learning about the systems
and structures that underpin all of nature. More than just a
study of numbers, equations and problems, mathematics will
open new perspectives to you that you never dreamed possible.
Mathematics is a profound exploration of the cosmos and an
adventure of the human spirit.
