Jump Start is for students entering grades 6-8<br />
[Session I] and those entering 9th grade [Session II].<br />
The program is geared towards students who<br />
may have struggled in school during <strong>the</strong> previous<br />
year, and who may benefit from a short-term<br />
“back-to-school readiness” program aimed at<br />
improving student skills for <strong>the</strong> upcoming academic<br />
year. Students will also make new friends and<br />
have fun engaging in hands-on activities, sports,<br />
art and more!<br />

LAWRENCE SCHOOL<br />
<strong>Lawrence</strong> <strong>School</strong> is an independent, coeducational<br />
day school serving students with language-based<br />
learning differences and challenges focusing attention.<br />
With our small classes, unique curricula, and hands-on<br />
learning opportunities, we provide students from<br />
nearly 70 communities and 10 counties throughout<br />
nor<strong>the</strong>ast Ohio with <strong>the</strong> tools and strategies <strong>the</strong>y<br />
need to become successful learners.<br />
<strong>Lawrence</strong> <strong>School</strong> has two campus locations. The Lower<br />
<strong>School</strong> campus in Broadview Heights serves students in<br />
grades 1-6, while <strong>the</strong> 47-acre Upper <strong>School</strong> campus<br />
in Sagamore Hills serves students in grades 7-12. Both<br />
locations are central to <strong>the</strong> greater Cleveland and<br />
Akron areas.<br />

Wednesday n Note-Taking and Summarization Skills to<br />
improve reading comprehension using Joan Sedita’s Key<br />
Comprehension Routine.<br />
Thursday n Technology resources that can make reading,<br />
note-taking and organization easier and more intuitive.<br />
Friday n All Day Field Trip – Exciting<br />
location to be announced!<br />
Lunch: 11:45 am - 12:15 pm daily<br />
AFTERNOON<br />
12:15 - 4:00 pm – Activities and Special Events<br />
Monday n Weird Science – <strong>Lawrence</strong> <strong>School</strong> science<br />
faculty will lead experiments and activities designed to<br />
entertain and amaze!<br />
Tuesday n Sports and More – Move through rotations<br />
of sports and activities designed to keep body and mind<br />
active, including basketball, soccer and baseball.<br />
Wednesday n Tech Mania – From making your own<br />
video, to some time to game with your friends, spend<br />
some time learning new and exciting ways to<br />
engage with technology.<br />
Thursday n Art in Motion – Learn about <strong>the</strong> world of<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>atre, and maybe even perform on stage. Complete<br />
a cool art project to share with someone – or just keep<br />
for yourself.<br />
Friday n All Day Field Trip – Exciting Location to<br />
