After the case study the student is capable to chose the right logistic
units for transporting and distributing against optimum costs within an
unimodal or multimodal network.
Within the case study the following items are used:
Standardization and normalization
Function and qualities of the following logistic units like package
units, loading units, transport units and mode of transport units.
Development and trends within the logistic units
The influence of the choice on the cost structure and sustainable
management
Knowledge of mechanical and climatological load of logistic units
during physical distribution and securing of cargo
Perishable transport
Rules and regulations about Dangerous Goods related to
packages and transport.
The (dis)advantages of the different modes of transport.
First acquaintance with the various modes of transport and the
differences between the modes of transport.
A sustainable composition of transport chains by using more
clean fuels, more efficient engines and more clean modes of
transport (to be documented in a Co2 footprint).
