OSHA 10-HOUR CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY OUT-
REACH TRAINING PROGRAM (10 Hours)
An introduction to OSHA health and safety regulations specific
to the construction industry. This course is designed
to help workers recognize and prevent hazards on a construction
site. The course will focus on four primary hazards:
and caught in/between. Additional topics of discussion will
include personal protective equipment, health hazards in
construction, material handling, scaffolds, excavation, and
OSHA HAZARD COMMUNICATION STANDARD
(4 Hours)
The standard that gave workers the right to know, now
gives them the right to understand. In order to ensure
chemical safety in the workplace, information about the
identities and hazards of the chemicals must be available
and understandable to workers.
Major changes to OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard
(HCS) include: specific criteria for classification of
health and physical hazards, new chemical labels, and a
specified 16-section format for Safety Data Sheets. The
standard also requires employers to train workers on these
new elements by Dec 1, 2013.
RESIDENTIAL FALL PROTECTION:
SAFETY AND HEALTH (4 Hours)
CONSTRUCTION
In the U.S. construction industry, falls are the leading
cause of worker fatalities. Each year, on average, between
150 and 200 workers are killed and more than 100,000 are
injured as a result of falls at construction sites. OSHA recognizes
that accidents involving falls are generally complex
events involving a variety of factors. OSHA now requires
fall protection be used during residential construction. Employers
must develop a site specific Fall Protection Plan
and train workers in the proper selection, use, and maintenance
of all protection systems. This course will help you
meet these new requirements.
This course is recommended as an orientation to Residential
Fall Protection of Home Builders / Roofers and other
residential construction industry supervisors / employees.
Upon completion of training, participants will receive a
Residential Fall Protection training certificate.
MANUFACTURING & LOGISTICS
Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC)
The Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC) is an industry-led training, assessment and certification
system focused on the core skills and knowledge needed by the nation’s production workers.
The national MSSC system offers both entry-level and incumbent workers the opportunity to demonstrate
that they have mastered the skills needed in the high-growth, technology-intensive jobs of the 21st century. Kent State
University at Trumbull is pleased to announce our partnership with MSSC and our certification as a MSSC Test and Training
Center.
MSSC credentials are based on the National Skill Standards for Manufacturing and are endorsed by the National Association
for Manufacturers (NAM). ―We believe the MSSC certification program for production workers will help address the
growing skills gap by making it clear to workers what skills they need to work in manufacturing, and at the same time enable
manufacturers to identify applicants who have the requisite skills.” John Engler, CEO, National Association of Manufacturers.
ATTENTION EMPLOYERS: Validate the skills of your current
workforce and prepare workers to meet current and future
needs in a technologically advancing industry. The
MSSC CPT and CLA credentials are designed to help you
identify skill gaps, improve productivity and innovation, and
assist you in recruiting and retaining qualified workers.
MSSC assessments can be used for pre-hiring, pre-training,
or pre-promotion purposes. In addition, utilizing MSSC assessments
allows you to validate employee skills and add
credentials to your workforce - a great opportunity to enhance
your business quality system. Online or instructor-led
training is available. Ensure your workers have a foundation
of core skills necessary for improved organizational performance.
On June 8, 2011 the White House hosted an event focused
on building the educated and skilled workforce U.S. manufacturers
need to successfully compete in the 21st century
economy. President Obama announced the goal of credentialing
500,000 students with skills certifications aligned to
manufacturers’ hiring needs, citing The Manufacturing Institute’s
NAM-Endorsed Manufacturing Skills Certification System
as a national solution.
The MSSC credentials were highlighted at the regional
Manufacturing Workforce Summit held in April, 2012.
To learn more about this nationally recognized credential,
