Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa
Significant upgrades over the past number of years have allowed the course
to keep pace with newer courses while maintaining the golf experience
that Stanley intended. The parkland setting, through an evergreen forest, is
complemented by the course’s circular layout which brings the prevailing
wind into place at almost every conceivable angle.
The course is characterized by a winding brook that has been dammed to
create two outstanding par 3 holes - one of which is the signature #2 hole.
The par 5, #7 hole, is a winding, dipping adventure, rated as one of the most
difficult holes in Canada.
Don’t let the 6284 yards from the back tees fool you. With the narrow landing
areas, mounded bunkers, small greens and prevailing winds, Digby Pines plays
much longer. The two additional tee locations on each hole allow for friendlier
play for those who don’t hit the ball far.
Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa is an elegant and historic property, dating
back to the late 1920s. With its 4 star rating, it is one of Atlantic Canada’s
premier destinations. The addition of a 2,500 square foot AVEDA concept
spa adds to the total experience at Digby Pines.
Even after 81 years, the Stanley Thompson masterpiece continues to give
golfers a truly “classic” experience.
Uniacke Pines
Located only minutes from Bedford and Sackville, the course formerly known as
“Witch’s Ridge” is set to open for its second season. Changes to the course that
winds through 80 acres offering fabulous vistas, include new greens, wider fairways,
new paths, updated drainage and a clubhouse complete with food and beverage
service. During 2012, the club plans to continue improvements to ensure golfers
enjoy Uniacke Pines.
Uniacke Pines boasts many fine holes often featuring majestic Pines that define
the fairways and protect the greens. One of our signature holes is #6, featuring an
elevated tee 100 yards from a shallow green, over 100ft in length, protected by
water on three sides. Across from #6 green you’ll be impressed by Uniacke House
Museum, a popular visit in this area of Nova Scotia.
Highlands Links
As one of the World’s Top 100 Courses (#86, Golf Magazine, 2009) and Canada’s #1 Public Course (Atlantic)
SCOREgolf Magazine 2009 for the third consecutive year, Highlands Links represents the essence and purity of golf
as it was meant to be played. Here, between the majesty of the Cape Breton Highlands and the roar of the Atlantic
Ocean, Stanley Thompson’s masterpiece has grown into a national treasure.
Located in the heart of one of North America’s most beautiful national parks (Cape Breton Highlands ranked #2
National Park in North America-National Geographic Traveler Magazine, 2005), this 18-hole journey showcases
breathtaking mountain views and ocean vistas. The brilliance of Thompson’s design is apparent to all with his famous
bunkering and magnificent routing, winding its way seamlessly through rocky headlands and wooded glens. Whether
it’s the feel of the ocean breeze at your back as you tee off from “Ben Franey” (#1) or the exhilaration of watching
eagles soar above as you challenge “Killiecrankie” (#7), Highlands Links welcomes each golfer with its inspiring
natural beauty. “Few courses anywhere are more pleasing to the eye”, (Golf Odyssey, Sept. 2005).
While this “Canadian Classic” (Globe Golf, May, 2005) has been included among golf’s elite courses for several years,
the Parks Canada operated course is equally proud of the fact that Highlands Links enjoys the distinction of being
designated the first course in Atlantic Canada as a “Certified Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary.” As Thompson himself
once stated, “Nature must always be the architect’s model.”
Together, the brilliance of Thompson’s design combined with a spectacular natural setting has resulted in one of the
world’s most unforgettable courses (#38 Golf Digest Top 100 Courses Outside the United States), and a spectacular
golfing experience between the mountains and the ocean. www.highlandslinksgolf.com
Cabot Links
Never is the game of golf more appealing than when a course is set in a rugged, oceanfront
landscape, on linksland running firm and fast. This is Cabot Links, Canada’s only authentic links.
This is Cabot Links, where the holes spread out between the sea and the village of Inverness.
This is Cabot Links, where every hole offers an ocean view and where five holes play directly
adjacent to the beach.
To see the ocean from everywhere on the links, and to play golf on the ground as well as in
the air, to imagine shots and to understand that the contours of the fairways and greens invite
creativity: This is golf as it was meant to be and as it has been for centuries on the classic links
that represent the best the game has to offer. Yes, this is Cabot Links, where golf is truly
a game, meant to be played.
Play Cabot Links and you will feel linked to the game’s enduring values. You will feel at home,
because you will have come home to the true game. This is golf the Cabot way, on a course
designed for all golfers who know the game has a heart, and a soul, and who understand that
playing it means engaging all the senses. Cabot Links will do that, because of where it is, how
it plays, and the values it expresses. Canada’s first links has come to Nova Scotia. Golfers are
sure to follow.
Bell Bay Golf Club
The beautiful Bell Bay Golf Club located in the quaint village of Baddeck, Nova Scotia, was awarded “Best New Course
in Canada” by Golf Digest 1998 and ranked in the top 55 Best Course in Canada by ScoreGolf Magazine. Bell Bay
sits high above Cape Breton’s inland sea, the Bras d’Or Lakes, offering panoramic views from virtually every hole.
Bell Bay is an experienced site for high profile events such as: The RCGA’s Canadian Amateur Championship in 2005;
the RCGA’s Canadian Club Champions Championship in 2000 & 2006; and the 2001 Wayne Gretzky
and Friends Invitational featuring Mike Weir vs. Brett Hull and Joe Sakic and Wayne Gretzky.
The routing of the course takes full advantage of the natural features of the land and each hole has a distinctive
element that makes it both unique and memorable.
Bell Bay is distinguished by its final 4 holes, which have been called one of the best finishing sequences anywhere. A
strong candidate for the signature hole is the seventeenth par 3, “Banshee.” The drastic elevation changes, ravine
and a green that is set in a pocket of trees on the other side offer an illusion to the golfer’s normal distance perception
and it is easy to underhit the shot. The true signature hole though is saved for last. “Breadalbane” is one of the most
scenic tee shots in golf. A sweeping panorama of the Bras d’Or Lakes and Alexander Graham Bell’s summer estate
can take one’s attention away from this par 5 finishing hole. Starting with a tee shot over a great gorge, the hole winds
its way to the clubhouse silhouetted by the Highlands in the background.
Overall playability is enhanced by bent grass greens, tees and fairways, exceptionally manicured. There are four
distinct teeing areas, positioned to assure both challenge and enjoyment for players of all skill levels. A member
