Abstract:<br />

The aim of the course is to summarize and expand the students knowledge from the department of AICT to<br />

the area of Mechatronics. This course considers topics of electromechanical drives, operation of machines<br />

and robots, manipulators and etc. The discipline is based on the knowledge, acquired during the following<br />

courses: Theory of Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Devices, and is also connected to Control of<br />

Electromechanical Systems-1 and 2.<br />

Course content:<br />

Introduction into mechatronics. Motion control devices. CNC devices. Programming of CNC. Uses of CNC<br />

for dimension control. Robots and manipulators. Communication protocol in mechatronic systems<br />

Teaching and assessment:<br />

Continuous assessment takes place both during lectures and practice classes and is combined with the<br />

results from the preliminary oral exam and 1 test. Point system for assessing students’ knowledge is also an<br />

option. If a student gets a poor mark on the test, he has to sit for a supplementary exam.<br />
