Abstract: During lectures special attention is paid to the ideology of computer systems for control of
electro-motion and monitoring of their energy parameters. Also issues about the protective functions and
control of technological parameters, and certain systems including transformers for frequency and
algorithms of control are discussed. This course is thematically connected with the following subjects:
Control of Electromechanical Systems-2, Computer Control Systems-2 and Computer Control Systems-
Project.
Course content: Basic trends of the computer control of electromechanical systems. Computer-based
systems and systems with digitally programmed control of electromechanical devices. Industrial controllers
for specialized systems. Modern patterns for realization of algorithms, used in electro-motion for frequency
converters.
Teaching and assessment: Practice classes are carried out in teaching laboratories and industrial
companies, and are organized in cycles. Lectures, prospects, illustrative examples, patterns and models,
specialized literature are also used for students’ preparation. During the practice classes, students are
divided in several groups and their level of preparation for the class is checked. The students have to
attend all the practice classes and write a report for each of them. The final assessment for the course is
based both on the final exam and the results from the practice classes.
Abstract:
The course objective is to give the students working knowledge of the basic problems, principles and
methods used in artificial intelligence systems, as well as the main application areas. Topics, related to
knowledge presentation, expert systems, fuzzy systems, action planning, machine learning, pattern
recognition, artificial neural networks and genetic algorithms are considered in the discipline.
Course content:
Knowledge representation and use. Expert systems. Fuzzy logic. Action planning. Pattern recognition.
Neural networks, genetic algorithms and their application in artificial intelligence systems.
Teaching and assessment:
The lectures include the basic theoretic problems in this subject area, which are illustrated with
appropriate examples. During the practice sessions the students have the opportunity to apply their
theoretical knowledge and skills in practice. They prepare a written report for the work done. The final
mark is formed on the basis of the exam results and work done in the practice sessions.
