Abstract:<br />

The course aims to familiarise students with the modern tendencies in virtual instruments development. The<br />

architecture of virtual instruments, hardware and software environments for their constructing is also examined.<br />

Course prerequisite is the knowledge of the Modelling and Simulation.<br />

Course content:<br />

Architecture of virtual instruments. Devices for measurement, testing and automation. LabVIEW software<br />

environment for the development of virtual instruments. LabVIEW specialized modules. LabWindows/CVI software<br />

environment for the development of virtual instruments. Specialized library NI Measurement Studio for Microsoft<br />

Visual Studio for developing virtual instruments. Building virtual systems for measurements and automation.<br />

Teaching and assessment:<br />

At the lectures students are familiarised with the theoretic aspects of the architecture of the virtual instruments,<br />

hardware and software environments for their constructing. At the practical sessions they work with specific<br />

software environments for virtual instruments development. The course ends with a written and oral exam.<br />

Abstract:<br />

The purpose of the course is the students to get into the specifics of the enterprise computer network<br />

infrastructure. Thorough study is made of Ethernet technologies based switches, hierarchical switched network<br />

design, STP support, security, VLANs. Under exploration are storage systems and networks(DAS, NAS, SAN,<br />

RAID, FC, iSCSI, FCoE) and their software, as well as data centres, regulations and compliancy, security,<br />

management, organization, exploitation and trends in the enterprise networks.<br />

Course content:<br />

Introduction to enterprise networks. Introduction to telecommunications networks. Broadband access technologies.<br />

Ethernet switch based enterprise LAN infrastructures. Storage Systems and networks. Data Centres. Security,<br />

Management, organization, exploitation and trends in the enterprise networks.<br />

Teaching and assessment:<br />

The lectures are conducted 3 hours weekly. The practical exercises are 3 hours weekly either. The students are<br />

preparing for the exercises, using the recommended literature. The exam is written, with test questions and tasks,<br />

case resolving, as well as with practical task in simulator.<br />
