Abstract:
The foreign language module 2 like module 1 is aimed at achieving communicative competence in the area of the
subject specialism and the future job. The teaching objectives comprise the development of reading
comprehension skills to handle specialist texts and the acquisition of communication skills to interact successfully
in professional settings and everyday situations.
Course content:
Making a request. Offering advice. Conditionals. Describing a process. Components and specifications. Describing
graphs. Higher education. Writing a CV. Likes and dislikes. Announcements and messages (formal and informal).
Making suggestions and plans. The grammar material is connected with the lexical topics and situations.
Teaching and assessment:
As in module 1 a wide range of authentic and specially constructed texts ( i. e. articles, diagrams and tables,
brochures ,catalogues , manuals, etc.) as well as audio , video, and multimedia materials are used to acquire the
necessary language knowledge and to develop skills in using the language as a means of communication.
Students are offered lessons in computer laboratories, in which multimedia learning packages and on-line
materials on the Internet are used according to the modern trends in foreign language teaching.
Key elements are the motivation factors. In class students participate in role-plays, pair and group activities and
they are encouraged to work on their own on their translation assignment. The oral exam covers the topics
discussed during the semester.
Abstract:
The subject has the objective to give the students the necessary knowledge and skills for solving engineering
problems which require using a function of a complex variable, Furie’s rops, operational calculation and application
of the most often applied numerical methods from linear algebra and mathematical analysis, of the mathematical
apparatus of the probability theory, the methods of mathematical statistics for the processing of data received
experimentally.
Course content:
Equations of a stationary and non-stationary thermal field, wave equation. Function of a complex variable, Furie’s
rops. Operational calculation and application. Numerical methods for solving systems of linear equations, nonlinear
equations, systems of non-linear equations, method of the smallest squares for approaching the data given
in a table form. Elements from the probability theory, elements from the mathematical statistics, elements from the
regression and correlation analysis, main concepts from planning the experiment.
Teaching and assessment:
The lecture material is illustrated with example problems, connected with the speciality of the students. The
degree of the learning of the material is tested during group work. Application problems are solved with the
programming medium MATLAB during the laboratory sessions. Method of assessment: written and oral exam.
Final assessment is done by an exam, held in a written form, by giving problems and questions. The continuous
assessment is done with two written tests with a duration of two hours.
