Abstract:
The subject acquaints the students with the basic electronic devices and computer systems, which have
application in agriculture and food industry. The material is studied in such a volume, which provides the
necessary basic knowledge for the Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree on the technical exploitation and
maintenance of electronic and computer systems. Course prerequisites include Electronics, Electrical equipment
in agriculture and food industry and Electrical measurements.
Course content:
Electronic devices for automation in plant growing – soil treatment, irrigation, harvest gathering. Computer
systems for process control by keeping, processing and drying of agricultural produce. Process control in stockbreeding
– regulation of the microclimate in stock-breeding buildings, feeding, milking, physiological parameter
control, manure cleaning. Electronic control systems of the quality of raw materials in food industry. Protection and
diagnostics of power electrical equipment.
Teaching and assessment:
Teaching is done by using classical methods.Different visual aids such as OHP and video films are used during
the lectures. Company catalogues, prospects and demo versions of software applications are prepared for the
laboratory exercises. The term is validated according to the Inner rules of the University. Assessment includes a
written exam on two topics from the prospectus.
Abstract:
Specific electric equipment of agricultural and food industry machines, their electric engines and management
scheme’s choice methods is studied in the subject. Attention is focused on new trends in this direction. Course
pre-requisites include Electrical appliances, Electrical machines, Electrical drives, Electronics, and Electric
equipment. The course is a pre-requisite for Electrical power supply, Technical exploitation of electrical appliances
in industry and agriculture and the diploma thesis development.
Course content:
Electric equipment for farming purposes: seed cleaning and drying installations, greenhouses. Electric equipment
in stock-breeding: food preparation and distribution aggregates, shearing, ventilation and heating systems in
stock-breeding and poultry, Electric equipment of metal cutting machines and food industry machines.
Teaching and assessment:
Lectures are illustrated with the help of slides and pictures. Laboratory exercises are carried out using industrial
models. Following the lectures students take short tests. Students are allowed to attend the exercises if they have
shown enough knowledge in the preliminary oral exam. Through the exercises students receive tasks for
nonstandard scheme decisions of management schemes. The exam consists of a written part based on two
questions and an oral discussion.
