Weddings at University House
Thank you for considering University House as your
Wedding Reception venue.
Please find below a list of necessary information that
will assist you and University House with the planning
of your special day.
The Wedding Ceremony
Our sunny courtyard and/or lounge is available for a
small fee for your wedding ceremony – please let us
know as soon as possible if required.
University House can also assist with enquiries relating
the following university college chapels.
• Trinity College
• Ormond College
• Newman College
• Whitley College
Selecting Your Menu
Your final menu selections will be required no later
than two weeks prior to your Wedding Reception.
Our Functions Manager is available to meet with you
to discuss your individual requirements in greater
detail and provide advice where necessary.
Menu and Wine Tastings
Menu sampling and wine tastings are available on
request. (sit down menu only)
Beverages
Wines included in the packages are University
House wines.
Wine and beer upgrades are available at an extra
cost. Full liquor service including spirits is also
available upon request.
Special dietary requirements
Please let us know when confirming your menu if you
require any special catering.
We suggest you ask your guests when they RSVP.
Table Linen, Chair Covers and Sashes
Our Wedding Package includes white underlays, linen
tablecloths and napkins. Ivory linen may also be
arranged at an additional charge of $4.00 per person.
Chair covers and coloured sashes may also be arranged
at a nominal fee to compliment your colour theme.
Please note that we require at least three weeks
notice to arrange special linen requirements.
Meals for Non Guests
These need to be included in your numbers.
A special discounted rate for bands and
photographers is applicable.

Seating Arrangements / Room Layout
University House is able to provide large round tables
accommodating up to 8 or 10 guests. Smaller tables
are also available on request.
When arranging your seating plan, it is often a good
idea to indicate where your parents are to be seated
and important to indicate where guests with special
dietary requirements are to be seated.
Final seating plan
Please ensure that it is posted or delivered to
University House at least (two) 2 working days
prior to your Wedding Reception. Please also
consider where you would like your wedding
cake is to be located in the room and timings for
speeches.
Final alphabetical guest list
This is also needed with your final seating plan
and will be posted at the entry to the reception
to inform your guests of their table number and
where they will be seated.
Place Cards and Bonbonniere
Place cards and bonbonniere will be placed in
accordance with your personal seating plan.
Please ensure that this is also delivered at least
2 working days prior to your Wedding Reception
together with your seating plan. It is also
requested that your place cards are compiled
into bundles with the assigned table number,
clockwise in order as you wish to have your
guests seated around the table.
Wedding Cake
University House can recommend several wedding
cake suppliers.
When ordering your wedding cake, please enquire with
the supplier what size portion the quote is based on.
Most wedding cakes cater for ‘finger portions’ suited
for guests to take away with them or have with coffee.
If you wish to have your caked served as your
dessert, please notify your supplier so that accurate
portions and quote is provided.
Please pass on to us any cutting instructions you may
have. For example, some couples may wish to retain
the top tier for another special occasion.
It is preferable for your wedding cake to be delivered
the day prior to your wedding day.
Please ask your supplier to contact our Functions Team
to arrange delivery times etc.
Deliveries may also be made on the day but please
confirm an appropriate time with University House.
Flowers
University House is able to recommend several
excellent florists in the local area.
It is preferable for your flowers to be delivered the
evening prior to your wedding day.
Please ask your supplier contact our Functions Team to
arrange delivery times etc.

Musicians
University House is able to recommend several
musicians. Please contact the Functions Team for
further information.
Photography
University House and its gardens are available for
wedding photos in association with your ceremony
and reception at no additional charge. A permit and
fee is required by The University of Melbourne,
if photography around the campus is required
(eg. Old Arts Quad).
Contact the Functions Team for an application form.
Final Attendance
It is requested that an indication of your guest
numbers be provided to University House at least one
month prior to your Wedding Reception. Final guest
numbers are required five working days prior to the
day and this will be the final attendance for which you
will be charged.
Payments
Payment can be made by credit card (Mastercard,
Visa, Bankcard or Diners Club). Personal cheques made
payable to University House.
Deposit
A minimum deposit of $1000.00 will be required
to secure your booking. This is a non-refundable
payment, which will be deducted from your final bill.
Instalments
To ease the burden in the weeks before your big day,
University House offers payment by instalments.
Final Payment
University House requires your final payment two days
working days prior to your Wedding Reception.
