American Schools and Hospitals<br />
Abroad Program<br />
S<strong>in</strong>ce 1976, the <strong>United</strong> <strong>Board</strong>’s partnership with the<br />
American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA)<br />
program of the U.S. Agency <strong>for</strong> International<br />
Development has helped seven <strong>Asia</strong>n colleges and<br />
universities <strong>in</strong> five countries undertake campus<br />
improvement and curricular improvement projects.<br />
The most recent round of awards will enable Payap<br />
University <strong>in</strong> Thailand to conduct a much needed<br />
upgrade of its <strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation technology <strong>in</strong>frastructure<br />
and Silliman University <strong>in</strong> the Philipp<strong>in</strong>es to make<br />
improvements at its College of Nurs<strong>in</strong>g and the<br />
Allied Health Sciences.<br />
To date, ASHA has awarded the <strong>United</strong> <strong>Board</strong> more<br />
than $13 million <strong>for</strong> projects at partner <strong>in</strong>stitutions,<br />
which the <strong>United</strong> <strong>Board</strong> adm<strong>in</strong>isters at no cost to the<br />
colleges and universities.<br />
