Scope
This document provides data preparation specialists with
recommendations for preparing and printing variable process color and
spot color jobs with your KODAK VERSAMARK Printing System. By reading
and following these recommendations, you can dramatically improve
throughput by reducing the need for reprinting. In addition to providing job
preparation recommendations, this document also provides
troubleshooting procedures for common print quality issues.
You can use the Color Image Quality Guide in conjunction with the KODAK
VERSAMARK Color Toolkit, a software program that helps data preparation
specialists, ink output specialists, and printer operators obtain optimum
image quality in jobs prepared for your printing system. For details on
Color Toolkit features, see the Color Toolkit User’s Guide or help.
The following three distinct groups make up the intended audience for this
document:
• Graphic artists, job layout designers, and other traditional pre-press
specialists, referred to in this document as data prep specialists. This
group includes anyone who creates, manipulates, or designs output
to be printed.
• Inkjet output specialists, which include those in charge of selecting
paper, qualifying paper, and verifying output quality.
• Press operators, who oversee all print operations, such as selecting
the print mode, positioning printheads, setting the print speed, and
controlling the dryer temperature.
