PPSA
Professional Pharmacy Student Alliance
(PPSA) is known as an umbrella organization
in that it many student pharmacy associations
fall under its "umbrella." PPSA was conceived
throughout the 2002-2003 semesters in an
attempt to improve student involvement and
strengthen the students’ representation in
state organizations.
The Academy of Students of
Pharmacy (ASP)
ASP is the student division of the American
Pharmaceutical Association and is open to all
prepharmacy and professional pharmacy students.
This organization fosters professional
development through a number of activities
including the patient counseling competition,
sponsorship of the fall Pharmacy Fair, participation
in the University's Health Fair, and
various awareness activities. A delegation
always attends the regional conference.
Associated Students of
Idaho State University
(ASISU)
All clubs and organizations should be chartered
through ASISU. Each college also has
an elected ASISU senator to represent the
interests of the college.
American Society of
Health-Systems
Pharmacists (ASHP)
The ISU Student Chapter of ASHP is affiliated
with both national and state organizations.
Purposes of this chapter are to provide
an opportunity for students to become knowledgeable
about practice in health care settings,
and to provide information about career
directions and credentials needed for practice
in this environment.
National Community
Pharmacists Association
(NCPA), Student Chapter
Students who are interested in pursuing careers
in retail pharmacy initiated this organization.
Activities include regional and national
speakers, and sponsoring a delegation
to the national convention.
Phi Delta Chi
The College’s chapter of Phi Delta Chi, a national
organization established over 60 years
ago, is the oldest student organization. Members
actively participate in the ISU Health
Fair, independently sponsor a Drug Abuse
Awareness Program, and have adopted a section
of the interstate for cleanup. In past
years they have created a homecoming float
and sponsored a Halloween dance.
