Over the past 100 years FREUND has developed into a

mechanical engineering company of highest standard

specialising in quality tools for slaughtering and cutting

cattle, pigs, sheep, poultry and fish. Today FREUND is

one of the global leaders in these segments.

Tradition – It all started in Solingen

FREUND’s beginnings reach back to the 18th century in

Solingen. The initial production of cutlery and sharpening

of knives was gradually superseded by specialising in the

production of slaughtering and cutting tools. In 1928

Walter Freund had his metal working shop in Paderborn

registered for the production of butcher tools, knives and

grinding machines.

After World War II his son Reinhard developed first gears

to fit electric rib-saws in the early 1950s. Since 1992

Robert Freund has been CEO of the family-run company.
