FEATURED ALUMNI<br />
My name is K<strong>at</strong>hleen (K<strong>at</strong>ie) Michaud <strong>RN</strong>, <strong>BSN</strong>. I<br />
recently returned <strong>to</strong> college full-time as a nontraditional<br />
student, earning my Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science degree in Nursing<br />
in <strong>the</strong> spring <strong>of</strong> 2011, gradu<strong>at</strong>ing<br />
cum laude. I wish <strong>to</strong> advance my<br />
career <strong>to</strong> a family nurse practitioner<br />
in <strong>the</strong> immedi<strong>at</strong>e future. UMFK<br />
was an excellent choice for me as I<br />
was able <strong>to</strong> choose online studies<br />
while working in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> Nursing,<br />
and taking care <strong>of</strong> my family. The class I enjoyed<br />
most during my course studies was Ethics and Law. I<br />
am very interested in <strong>the</strong> ethical decision making <strong>of</strong><br />
p<strong>at</strong>ient tre<strong>at</strong>ment, and I enjoy researching law and<br />
reasons behind its importance in medicine. I currently<br />
work as an <strong>RN</strong> case manager for The Aroos<strong>to</strong>ok Medical<br />
Center and enjoy submitting cost-saving innov<strong>at</strong>ive<br />
ideas <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> organiz<strong>at</strong>ion. I have been a practicing registered<br />
nurse for 16 years. UMFK’s dedic<strong>at</strong>ed pr<strong>of</strong>essionals<br />
are available, knowledgeable, and involved with <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
students’ success. There were many instruc<strong>to</strong>rs and class<br />
advisors th<strong>at</strong> guided and encouraged me <strong>of</strong>ten. UMFK<br />
was a stepping s<strong>to</strong>ne when fur<strong>the</strong>ring my educ<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
