About VSS

About iNACOL

iNACOL is the International Association for K-12

Online Learning, a non-profit 501(c)(3) membership

association based in the Washington, DC area with

more than 3,100 members. iNACOL is unique in that

its members represent a diverse cross-section of K-12

education from school districts, charter schools, state

education agencies, non-profit organizations, colleges,

universities and research institutions, corporate

entities and other content and technology providers.

Online learning is expanding educational options for

students regardless of their geographic boundaries,

background or family income levels. In light of this,

iNACOL is uniquely positioned to help identify online

learning models that are emerging in the next

generation of education, highlight new trends and

help improve online programs and services.

iNACOL’s annual conference, the Virtual School

Symposium (VSS), provides important analysis,

interactive sessions and thought-provoking

workshops for leaders looking to help shape the future

of education.

About the Virtual School Symposium

The Virtual School Symposium (VSS) is the premier

conference for K-12 online learning and virtual schools.

The VSS is a gathering of virtual education leaders who

serve tens of thousands of students in schools, consortia,

districts, and states around the world. VSS offers

opportunities in professional development, think-tank

sessions and discussion groups, creating an emerging,

collaborative meeting ground for all participants.

The future of learning incorporates online and blended

approaches to extend learning time and create more

learning opportunities for students in any school or

location, including:

• Providing Advanced Placement (AP) classes not

offered at their schools;

• Offering credit recovery to meet graduation

requirements;

• Enabling coursework to be completed virtually

for students with illnesses, physical or

geographical limitations, or disabilities;

• Introducing new solutions for teaching online

science and math (STEM);

• Moving digital curriculum and web-based

platforms into face-to-face classrooms;

• Training teachers using technology tools in new

ways to engage students; and

• Personalizing instruction and real-time data to

adjust and adapt to diverse student learning needs.

VSS is THE meeting ground for those shaping the

future of K-12 online education.
