This included the range of interesting movie nights we hosted, where our members watched some of the most engaging movies and documentaries related to the fields of Business and Finance. Amplify Trading also returned this semester, providing students with the opportunity to trade on their own platforms using virtual money. The event allowed students to apply any fundamental techniques they had learned in their courses into a more practical setting. On the 1 st of April, the Finance Society also brought to you Stephen Grabiner, a renowned venture capitalist who has so far been a driving force behind major deals such as Yell, EMAP and Hit Entertainment. Mr. Grabiner presented a captivating lecture and provided the Finance Society with an exclusive event that we hold particular pride in. Finally, our trip to the Bank of England was postponed and is likely to be rescheduled for next semester, so we hope that you will all continue to attend our events, enhance your financial literacy and support the Finance Society. Furthermore, in line with clubs and societies at other institutions, the Finance Society launched its first website this semester [visit us at www.richmondfs.com] to keep members informed of our events, activities and progress. We have also continued the society’s tradition of issuing a weekly newsletter, and hope that you have found our articles useful and interesting. This year, the Finance Society was presented with the award for the ‘most improved club’ at Richmond’s Honour Night. This is a great achievement – one that highlights the work put in not only by this semester’s officers, but also our predecessors. Therefore, special thanks go to last semester’s executive team [led by Omar Elneser] and of course, the adviser who has greatly supported the Society over the past year – Dr. Ivan Cohen. We hold high expectations for the future of the Finance Society, and believe that it will continue to grow and enhance in the academic year to come. In the meantime, the Finance Society wishes you all the best of luck in all your exams, congratulations in advance to all graduating seniors, and a fun and relaxing summer break this year. www.richmondfs.com Page 1
