THE WELCOME
Hello!
2013 is a hugely exciting year for the Duke of Essex Polo
Grand Prix.
The event is now under new management and I am
pleased to welcome Grand Prix Events as our new
partners. They bring with them an unrivalled experience
from corporate hospitality specialising in the world of
Formula One. They have managed events all over the
globe including Monaco and New York as well as the
Grand Prix Ball at the Royal Albert Hall. I am delighted to
announce this new partnership and I am certain they will
be a welcome addition as we strive to make the Duke of
Essex Polo Grand Prix the finest Polo Event in the UK.
I’m also pleased to announce that the event will be
moving to a new venue Hylands House, in Chelmsford,
Essex.These changes are all to ensure that we enhance and
secure the future of the Duke of Essex Polo Grand Prix. I
can promise you that my team is working around the clock
in delivering the biggest and the best Polo event yet.
We look forward to welcoming you all on the weekend of the

POLO GRAND PRIX
Known around the world as the ‘Sport of Kings’ polo never fails to
attract the great and good and this year the Duke of Essex Polo Grand
Prix is set to be no different.
The popularity of the event has seen it firmly
establish itself as part of the British Social Season
and for the first time this year will be moving to
the beautiful, Grade II Listed, Hyland’s Park estate
outside Chelmsford, where it is expected to attract
over 8,000 VIP’s and members of the public.
Set for Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July the
new incarnation of the DUKE OF ESSEX POLO
GRAND PRIX will see it bigger, better and bolder.
Centred around a purpose built international
standard polo arena, the event will see some of the
world’s best players compete for the honour of
being crowned champions.
Surrounding the sporting arena will be a myriad of
entertainment including various VIP marquees,
international artists, family fun activity and of
course the sort of cuisine and beverages that would
befit the sport of kings.
Once the polo’s finished, then the party really begins
as the VIP enclosures are transformed into a one off
night spot with top club DJs and performances from
current acts and legends alike, the perfect way to
round off a truly spectacular event.

THE POLO
Known as the Sport of Kings, Polo is one of the world's oldest sports,
with its origins dating back to Persia in the 6th century BC.
The modern day game is predominantly played in
South America, Europe and the US and has
become a sport that attracts a unique crowd that is
as much about the social occasion as the polo itself.
One of the reasons for relocating to Hylands
Park was so that a purpose built International
Standard Polo arena could be created which in
turn delivers a credible sporting spectacle.

THE PEOPLE
The event this year will be a showcase of international Polo mixed
perfectly with family fun and world class entertainment which will create
a spectacular weekend.
The Duke of Essex Polo Grand Prix is expected
to attract over 8,000 people over two days
including high net worth individuals,
professionals, family groups and corporate
sponsors, all mingling together between the
various areas.This year's event is set to be a
strong social occasion and a credible sporting
event attracting true followers of the sport as well
as those looking for an unbelievable day out.

THE VENUE
Hylands Park covers an impressive 574 acres of Essex countryside and is home
to Hylands House, a stunning Grade II listed villa. Like many stately homes,
Hylands House stood empty for a number of years and slowly slipped in to a
state of disrepair until the current owners restored it to its former glory.
The restoration of Hylands House was completed in
2005 and today stands proud as a beautiful example
of Neo-Classical architecture. Hylands Park and the
house itself is quite simply a beautiful setting for the
Duke of Essex Polo Grand Prix combining tranquil
landscaping, formal gardens and wide open space
adventure areas.
As a country park Hylands is unquestionably ‘Set for
a King’ but for two days this Summer Hylands will
undoubtedly be ‘Set for the Sport of Kings’.
