Cynhelir Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Wrecsam a’r Fro
o 30 Gorffennaf – 6 Awst eleni. Mae’r Eisteddfod yn un
o wyliau celfyddydol mawr y byd sy’n denu hyd at 160,000
o bobl yn flynyddol.
The Wrexham and District National Eisteddfod is held from
30 July – 6 August this year, and is one of the world’s great
festivals, attracting up to 160,000 visitors every year.
Cymraeg yw iaith yr Eisteddfod, ac mae
popeth swyddogol yn digwydd trwy
gyfrwng yr iaith, ond mae croeso cynnes
i bawb ar y Maes – beth bynnag eich
hiaith. Mae digonedd o wybodaeth ar gael
yn ddwyieithog ar gyfer unrhyw un sy’n
dysgu Cymraeg neu sy’n dod i’n gweld
am y tro cyntaf.
Yn gerddoriaeth, dawns, celf,
perfformiadau gwreiddiol, gweithgareddau
teuluol neu’n gystadlaethau, mae
rhywbeth i bawb o bob oed, a chyda thros
300 o stondinau, mae’r Maes yn ‘fecca’
ar gyfer siopwyr. Mae’r Eisteddfod yn ŵ yl

Music, dance, visual arts, original
performances, family activities – there’s
something for everyone at the National
Eisteddfod, which is held on the ‘Maes’.
The Pink Pavilion is the focal point of the
official competing and cultural ceremonies,
but hundreds of activities take place all
over the Maes throughout the week. With
over 300 stands, it’s a shopper’s Mecca,
with gifts of all types – to suit every pocket.

Stondinau o bob lliw a llun, perfformiadau byw,
arddangosfeydd, sesiynau blasu, sioe gemeg,
dramau, llenyddiaeth – a llawer llawer mwy!
Mae rhywbeth i bawb ar Faes yr Eisteddfod,
gyda digonedd o weithgareddau i gadw’r
teulu’n hapus am wythnos gyfan. Gallwch
lawrlwytho ein llyfryn gweithgareddau plant,
ein rhaglen boced a’r map o’n gwefan yn rhad
ac am ddim cyn cyrraedd, neu bydd copïau
ar gael yn y brif fynedfa a’r Ganolfan Groeso.

Plenty to see
There’s stands of all shapes and sizes, live
performances, exhibitions, taster sessions,
chemistry shows, plays, literature and much
more! There’s something for everyone on the
Eisteddfod Maes, with plenty of activities to
keep the family busy for the whole week.
You can download our children’s activities
booklet, our pocket programme and the map
from our website free of charge before arriving
at the Eisteddfod, or pick up copies in the main
entrance and the Welcome Pavilion. You can
also purchase the Official Programme online
or in all good bookshops from the beginning
of July onwards.
The Eisteddfod itself has a number of smaller
pavilions, Y Lle Celf, Maes D, the Theatre,
Science and Technology, Dance, Literature,
Societies, Sports, Performance Stages and the
Pink Pavilion itself. Entry to all these is free of
charge for the price of a a daily Maes ticket,
and a full programme of activities is listed in the
Official Programme and the pocket programme.
Cystadlaethau
Cynhelir nifer fawr o gystadlaethau’n y Pafiliwn
yn ystod yr wythnos, o fandiau pres i ganu
corawl, ac o offerynwyr unigol i gerdd-dant
a llefaru. Dyma’r prif lwyfan ar gyfer doniau
Cymru ac mae nifer fawr o enwogion ein
gwlad wedi cychwyn gyrfa ar ôl llwyddo’n
yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol. Defnyddiwch
eich tocyn mynediad i fynd i’r Pafiliwn Pinc
ynghanol y Maes yn rhad ac am ddim,
a chewch flas ar y cystadlu – byddwch yn
siwr o fwynhau. Gall ymwelwyr di-Gymraeg
ddilyn gweithgareddau drwy ddefnyddio’r
gwasanaeth cyfieithu rhad ac am ddim sydd
ar gael yn y Pafiliwn. Yn ogystal, ceir llecyn
arbennig ar gyfer cadeiriau olwyn yn y Pafiliwn
ynghyd â system ‘infra red’ ar gyfer ymwelwyr
gyda theclynnau clyw.
Competitions
There’s competitions galore in the main Pavilion
during the week, from brass bands to choir
singing and from solo instrumentalists to cerdddant
and recitation. This is the main stage for
Welsh talent and many of our famous faces
have started their careers after winning at the
National Eisteddfod. Why not spend some time
enjoying the competing yourself by visiting
the Pink Pavilion, which is free with your Maes
ticket, during your time at the Eisteddfod, and
remember, translation equipment is available.
A number of wheelchair bays are situated in
the Pavilion and an infra-red system is also
available for visitors with hearing aids.

Anrhydeddir prif lenorion a phrifeirdd yr
Eisteddfod mewn seremonïau arbennig dan
arweiniad Gorsedd y Beirdd, a gynhelir ar
lwyfan y Pafiliwn yn ystod yr wythnos. Mae
cyfle hefyd i fwynhau ysblander yr Orsedd wrth
iddyn nhw orymdeithio drwy’r Maes yn dilyn
pob seremoni a chyn iddyn nhw urddo aelodau
newydd fore Llun a Gwener. Mae seremonïau
dan ofal yr Orsedd yn cychwyn yn y Pafiliwn
am 16.30. Dylid nodi y cynhelir y seremonïau
urddo yn y Babell Lên os yw’r tywydd yn wael
fore Llun a Gwener.

Ceremonies
The Eisteddfod’s best writers and poets are
honoured during splendid ceremonies led by
the Gorsedd of the Bards on the Pavilion stage
during the week. You can also enjoy the pomp
of the Gorsedd during their procession through
the Maes following each ceremony and before
they honour new members on the Monday
and Friday morning. All the main ceremonies
in the Pavilion start at 16.30. Please note
that the honouring of new members will take
place in the Literary Pavilion if the weather
is unfavourable.
Monday – Crowning of the Bard
Wednesday – Prose Medal
Friday – Chairing of the Bard
The Daniel Owen Memorial Prize ceremony
is held on Tuesday afternoon, the Musicians
Medal on Wednesday evening and the
Drama Medal on Thursday, on the Pavilion
stage. This year’s Learner of the Year ceremony
is held on Wednesday evening at Wrexham
Memorial Hall.
Gyda’r nos
Mae’r Pafiliwn yn cael ei drawsnewid yn
neuadd gyngerdd ardderchog gyda’r nos,
gyda chyngherddau o ansawdd rhyngwladol,
a chynhelir nifer o wyliau ymylol yn ystod
yr wythnos.
Cymysgedd eclectig o gerddoriaeth,
barddoniaeth a llawer mwy a geir ym Maes C.
Cynhelir y nosweithiau yn Ysgol Clywedog, sy’n
hynod gyfleus ar gyfer y maes carafanau a’r
Maes ei hun.
Mae Maes B wedi hen ennill ei phlwyf fel
prif ŵyl y sîn roc Gymraeg. Gyda chymysgfa
o gerddoriaeth, gan gynnwys sêr fel Bryn Fôn
a’r Band, Sibrydion, Elin Fflur a Cowbois Rhos
Botwnnog, mae’n denu dros 40 o fandiau. Eleni
cynhelir Maes B ym Mhrifysgol Glyndŵ r.
Cynhelir nifer o weithgareddau eraill yn ystod
cyfnod yr Eisteddfod, yn ddramau, gigs a
digwyddiadau cymdeithasol, wrth i’r ardal
droi’n ganolbwynt diwylliannol Cymru.

Nightlife
In the evening, the Pavilion is transformed
into a high-quality concert hall, which attracts
internationally renowned stars , and a number
of other fringe festivals are held during
the week.
Maes C is an eclectic mix of music, poetry
and much more, with an exciting combination
of new bands and well-known faces sharing
a stage. This year’s Maes C is situated at Ysgol
Clywedog, next to the official caravan site,
which is very convenient for the Maes.
Maes B is the leading festival in the Welsh
music calendar, and includes bands like
Sibrydion, Racehorses, Yr Ods and Cowbois
Rhos Botwnnog, with over 40 bands. Maes B
will be held on the Glyndŵ r University campus
in Wrexham, and gig details will be published
closer to the festival.
A number of other events and activities are
held during the Eisteddfod – plays, gigs and
social events as the area become the focus for
Welsh culture for the week. Details of these are
available in the Official Programme, the pocket

professional artists from Wales, under the
direction of Clwyd Theatr Cymru’s award
winning Director, Tim Baker, to work with
Wrexham’s young people.
The performance is inspired by the wonderful book
“Where Children Sleep” by James Mollison, published
by Chris Boot.
This evening is supported by the Arts Council of Wales
and Principality.

are a number of Eisteddfod-related well known

conducting the Wales Chamber Orchestra.
