Hendrick Ranch Elementary School staff and students showed a videotape and PowerPoint<br />
presentation on the site’s Project PUPIL (Publishing Using Production in Literacy).<br />
Joan Baugh, Ridge Crest teacher, was recognized for her retirement, effective June 13, 2002.<br />
Gary Baugh was honored for his years of service as a member of the Moreno Valley Unified School<br />
District.<br />
<strong>SCHOOL</strong> REPORTS<br />
The high school Student Board Representatives were presented certificates for their active participation<br />
at Board meetings during the 2001-02 school year.<br />

Katherine Underwood, president of MVEA, reported the results of the association vote on the tentative<br />
agreement : 86 percent - yes, 14 percent - no.<br />
Marcia Amino, community member, distributed information to the Board on James Comer and<br />
suggested his method of discipline be researched.<br />
Sherry Randall, Moreno Valley High School parent, Sandra Ortiz, Moreno Valley High School student,<br />
and Louise Palomarez addressed the Board about the resignation of the Moreno Valley High School<br />
principal.<br />
Alfonso James, Canyon Springs High School parent, shared a concern about the lack of<br />
communication regarding his student’s academic progress and requested that the matter be reviewed.<br />
Amanda Wilson and Manal Awad, Canyon Springs High School students, presented a petition to the<br />
Board to retain the Business Academy Advisor, Ms. Hoover.<br />
PUBLIC HEARINGS<br />
Action Item – 125 – Resolution No. 2001-02-84 – Authorizing Formation of a Joint Exercise of Powers<br />
Authority with the City of Moreno Valley and Resolution No. 2001-02-85 – Making Findings with<br />

Tracey Vackar<br />
She asked that Closed Session be included on the agenda for the June 7 special Board meeting.<br />
She attended a presentation at Butterfield Elementary School called the Hyenas Kingdom.<br />
John Bailey<br />
He asked that the Board review the Board meeting schedule for August as he has a conflict with<br />
the August 13 meeting.<br />
Gary Baugh<br />
He invited anyone who would like to attend his farewell scheduled for Friday, June 7, at 5:50 p.m. at<br />
the Moreno Valley Golf Club and his farewell service at the Morman Church on Redlands Boulevard<br />
on Sunday, June 9, at 9 a.m.<br />
He said it was a privilege to work in this District. He feels positive that the new Superintendent will<br />
do what is necessary to bring the District back on track.<br />
Jackie Ashe<br />
She will miss working with Board Member Baugh.<br />
She attended the Student of the Year Dinner.<br />
She asked if item number five in the budget reduction listing (night custodial crew) was a negotiable<br />
item.<br />
Rick Sayre<br />
He wished Board Member Baugh a hearty farewell. He has appreciated working with Board Member<br />
Baugh who has contributed great insight and wisdom to the District.<br />
