RVCC, CORNELL UNIVERSITY SIGN TRANSFER AGREEMENT<br />
<strong>Raritan</strong> <strong>Valley</strong> Community College (RVCC) and Cornell University have entered into a new<br />
<strong>agreement</strong> that will provide for the seamless <strong>transfer</strong> of RVCC students to the Ivy League<br />
school in Ithaca, NY. The <strong>agreement</strong>, which was <strong>sign</strong>ed April 6, will facilitate RVCC graduates’<br />
<strong>transfer</strong> to Cornell University College of Human Ecology.<br />
“The new partnership with Cornell University represents RVCC’s first <strong>transfer</strong> <strong>agreement</strong> with an<br />
Ivy League school. This <strong>agreement</strong> offers a tremendous opportunity for our students to<br />
continue their education in the rewarding and exciting field of human ecology at one of the<br />
nation’s most prestigious universities,” said RVCC President Dr. Casey Crabill.<br />
“The goal of this articulation is to clarify those factors that make for strong <strong>transfer</strong> candidates,<br />
and to facilitate a smooth academic transition to Cornell. Cornell’s College of Human Ecology<br />
has a long and successful history of working with <strong>transfer</strong>s, and we are excited with the<br />
opportunity to work more closely with RVCC students, faculty and staff, said Paul Fisher, Senior<br />
Associate Director of Admissions, Cornell University College of Human Ecology.<br />
The College of Human Ecology seeks solutions to contemporary human challenges through the<br />
combination and application of psychology, sociology, biology, chemistry, economics and<br />
de<strong>sign</strong>.<br />
RVCC students interested in being accepted into one of the College of Human Ecology’s<br />
Bachelor of Science programs must meet all admission requirements and graduate from RVCC<br />
with at least a 3.5 grade point average. Students accepted by Cornell will receive junior year<br />
status, <strong>transfer</strong>ring 60 credits of the required 120 required for a Bachelor of Science degree.<br />
The College of Human Ecology offers an applied, pre-professional curriculum that is organized<br />
around contemporary social topics or themes (De<strong>sign</strong> and Technology; Development and the<br />
Life Course; Economic and Social Well-being; and Human Nutrition, Health and Genomics) that<br />
incorporate social and natural sciences and de<strong>sign</strong> to create dynamic, interdisciplinary fields of<br />
study.<br />
A variety of majors are offered, including Biology and Society, De<strong>sign</strong> and Environmental<br />
Analysis (Facilities, Planning and Management; Human Factors & Ergonomics; Interior De<strong>sign</strong>),<br />
Human Biology Health and Society, Human Development, Nutritional Sciences, Policy Analysis<br />
and Management, and Fiber Science & Apparel De<strong>sign</strong>.
