17 N Newsletter Special Convention Edition Helen LeBlanc District Governor this issue Convention Registration P.6 Wanted—Theme Baskets P.4 Eye Glass Report P.2 Lion Asks for Your Support P.3 PediaVision Spot P. 4 Calling all Lions! I would like to extend an invitation to all Lions of 17-N to attend the upcoming District Convention which will be held on March 10 th and 11 th . This is a great time to share information, learn about what is going on and fellowship with other Lions in our District! All the information and registration paperwork you need is included in this newsletter. Let me tell you about some great things that are happening in our District. Last November PDG Terry Weldin came to Canton and Moundridge elementary schools to do sight screenings and last week he came to Wichita with his Sure Sight Screener and we were able to do eye screenings on approximately one hundred children at the Dodge Magnet School and Health Fair in Wichita. What a wonderful opportunity to serve the children in our District! As you may remember from previous newsletters and visits – I have been asking each Club in our District to donate $200.00 to purchase at least one sight screener for our District. The cost of the screener is approximately $9000.00 (49 clubs x $200). After quite a bit of researching the screeners available, the Pediavision ―Spot‖ is the best screener for our area. We are the only District in Kansas that does not have their own sight screener and I have made this a goal that I planned on accomplishing before I left office at the end of June. My goal has been met! Scott Hardtarfer, President of the Maize Lions Club contacted me last week to let me know that their Club would donate $9000.00 to purchase one Pediavision Sight Screener! What an awesome, generous display of Lionism! See Governor—Page 2 Wichita East/Southeast Lions Secretary, Joyce Gredraitis congratulates District Peace Poster Winner Emily Winger. Emily is a 7th grade student at Robinson Middle School. Her Peace Poster will be on display at the 17 N District Convention. Notice to Club Secretaries and Treasurers If you have not sent your State and District dues to me, they are due February 15th. If you never received a statement please contact me as soon as possible via either e- mail: 123lawatts@prodigy.net or by phone at 316-722-7699.
