10. Grant or deny the person access to the installation by using a verbal<br />

command and/or hand-and-arm signals.<br />

a. Direct the person to the access control operations center if the person<br />

cannot produce an authorized <strong>for</strong>m of state or federal government-issued photo<br />

ID card to be checked against the barred persons list or vouched <strong>for</strong> by an<br />

authorized person on the installation.<br />

b. Grant access to personnel producing the proper identification and signal<br />

to proceed.<br />

c. Deny personnel access to the installation if they do not have proper ID.<br />

d. Notify your supervisor of any problems or if anything is suspicious.<br />

Evaluation Preparation: Setup: Provide the Soldier with a training site<br />

that is suitable <strong>for</strong> access control operations and is well-lit. Use vehicles in<br />

the DOD inventory with a DOD decal, if no civilian vehicle with a DOD<br />

decal is available. Identify role players to act as either a driver or a<br />

pedestrian attempting entry onto the installation. If role players are in a<br />

vehicle, ensure that they are authorized to operate the equipment prior to<br />

beginning this task. Instruct role players to comply with instructions given<br />

by the Soldier being tested. The tester will determine what type of ID card<br />

the role players use.<br />

Brief Soldier: Tell the Soldiers they can familiarize themselves with the<br />

local SOP be<strong>for</strong>e they per<strong>for</strong>m the task and refer to the SOP during the<br />

task, if needed. The tester will play the role of the supervisor or military<br />

police, if needed. Tell the Soldier to conduct this task as outlined in the<br />

per<strong>for</strong>mance steps and that the role players are compliant and will obey<br />

instructions.<br />
