Per<strong>for</strong>mance Measures GO NO GO<br />

1. Conducted a 5-meter scan. —— ——<br />

a. Scanned assigned sector, working from ground level<br />

to above head height.<br />

b. Used optics, such as night vision goggles, if<br />

available.<br />

c. Used a white light during hours of reduced visibility<br />

if METT-TC permitted.<br />

d. Checked <strong>for</strong> abnormalities such as disturbed earth,<br />

wires, cables, or anything that did not look like it belonged<br />

there.<br />

e. Did not dismount unless directed to do so by the<br />

vehicle commander.<br />

f. When ordered to dismount, checked under the<br />

vehicle <strong>for</strong> visual indicators of IEDs.<br />

g. When dismounted, continued to scan assigned<br />

sector.<br />

2. Conducted a 25-meter scan. —— ——<br />

a. Upon completion of the 5-meter scan, continued<br />

scanning assigned sector out to 25 meters.<br />

b. Scanned near to far, ground level to above head<br />

height.<br />

c. Used binoculars, night vision goggles, weapons<br />

optics, etc. as available.<br />

d. Used a white light during hours of reduced visibility<br />

if METT-TC permitted.<br />

e. Did not dismount unless directed to do so by the<br />

vehicle commander.<br />

f. When ordered to dismount, continued to scan within<br />

assigned sector out to 25 meters.<br />

g. Checked under the vehicle <strong>for</strong> indicators of IEDs<br />

when dismounted.<br />

h. When dismounted, maintained a low profile around<br />

the vehicle during scan. Kept moving using an erratic pattern<br />

in order to be a less inviting target <strong>for</strong> a sniper.<br />

3. Conduct a 200-meter scan. —— ——<br />

a. Continued a systematic scan out to 200 meters<br />

within assigned area of scan.<br />

b. Searched near to far, high to low.<br />
