Section 229 ArtGeneral Information A. ENTRIES a. NO group projects. b. All artwork must have been done within the last two school years. c. A max of 2 entries per categories 1-14 per student allowed. d. No entry can be re-entered after placing at the district or state meet 1st through HM, except for Senior Portfolios. e. Students may sign their work. f. There are size limitations on work being entered in the competition. Please review section 230 for further information on specific size limits by category. g. No batteries, electricity, running water or other outside influences are to be included in art work competing at the District or State competition. Pieces with these elements will be disqualified. h. ALL WORK MUST BE LABELED WITH THE CORRECT LABEL FROM TAPPSTER IN ORDER TO COMPETE AT THE DISTRICT OR STATE COMPETITIONS. B. LIMITATIONS a. 2-D work i. MUST be matted or mounted except for work done on canvas. ii. Black or white mats/mounts only. iii. No colored mats/mounts. iv. Single mats only – no multiple mats allowed. v. Maximum mat size not to exceed 3”. This applies to all categories. vi. Images traced with the use of an overhead or opaque projector are prohibited. b. 3-D Work i. Must have a black/white mat no larger than 4x6 next to the work with TAPPSTER label attached to the back of the mat. ii. Images traced with the use of an overhead or opaque projector are prohibited. c. Frames i. Frames are not allowed. ii. Work that is framed will be disqualified at both district and state with no discussion. iii. The only exception will be work that is entered into the Senior Portfolio. 1. However, if one of the pieces in the Portfolio is to be judged in an additional category then the piece will have to be removed from the frame after the Portfolio judging is compete and placed, frame free, in the additional category. d. District and state artwork must be set flat on the tables ready for judging. Easels cannot be used. C. SOURCE MATERIAL a. No work may be entered into either a district or a state meet which has been copied from any published source or any other artist’s creative image unless the Revised 6/15/13 Page 1
