Welcome Parents, Alumni and Friends of Bishop Ward High School!
Thank you for your support of our students who are involved in our extracurricular activities that range
from Athletics to Yearbook. Thank you to our coaches and sponsors who believe in our students and
provide opportunities for them to excel. We are proud of the Bishop Ward High School community that is
involved in our many activities and contribute to the proud mighty Cyclone tradition.
Our extracurricular activities add to the overall social, physical, and spiritual growth of our students. These
activities provide additional opportunities for students to be successful out of the classroom, to learn to
work hard and to work together whether they are a member of an athletic team or the Academic Decathlon
team.
We look forward to a great year!
Dr. Judy Warren
Principal
On behalf of the administration, faculty, coaches and their staffs, I want to welcome everyone to this year’s
activities. The activities and opportunities that Bishop Ward provides for our student/athletes would not be
possible without the contributions, support, and sacrifices of so many.
Bishop Ward is rich in tradition, pride, and success. We look forward to another year of sportsmanship,
Cyclone spirit, and the celebration of our many successes on and off the field of competition.
Once again, thank you for being a part of this year’s activities and supporting our student/athletes as we
acknowledge their dedication and hard work.
Greg Duggins
Dean of Student/Athletic Director
Wellness for Ward
“The Bishop Ward mission statement states that we
strive to provide, “a quality, Catholic, college-preparatory
education that nurtures the body, mind and soul of each
student.” We care about the whole student: body, mind
and soul. Our spirituality of respect for the human body
comes in part from the words of St. Paul (1 Cor. 6:19):
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy
Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?
You are not your own.”
Father Michael Hermes, President
Endorsements
“Having a new kitchen will greatly benefit the students.
It will allow us to have healthier options at lunch and at
breakfast. It is important for the students to eat nutritious
meals so that they can perform and feel better.”
Ellyn Calvert ’11
“The school kitchen was constructed in the early 1960’s to help
accommodate the rapid growth of the student population during the
baby boom. The kitchen was state of the art for the early 1960’s. But
now with our new food service program, and with the emphasis on
preparing fresh, healthy and nutritious food on site, we realize the need
to renovate and upgrade our school kitchen. We need to get new
equipment in there in order to help provide the best high school food
service program in the Kansas City metro area.”
Mr. Tom Creal, Board Member and Nutrition Task Force Member
“A daily nutritional breakfast and lunch prepared in our cafeteria is
important not only physically but also mentally to our students.
Eating healthy food stimulates our minds and enables us to be alert
and focused during class time. Eating healthy also allows our students
to maintain a fit lifestyle. Any donation you can come up with to help
upgrade our kitchen will be deeply appreciated. Remember, this is for
our students at Bishop Ward High School!”
