The impoundment is located across the river Jawai which originates from the eastern slope <strong>of</strong><br />
Aravali ranges. It has catchment area <strong>of</strong> 787 sq.km. It is an oligotrophic in nature receives very<br />

little amount <strong>of</strong> sediments from the catchment. The mean depth <strong>of</strong> the reservior is 7.7m <strong>and</strong> water<br />
spread area is about 2590sq.km.<br />

Aquatic vegetation is mainly comprised <strong>of</strong> phytoplankton <strong>and</strong> Periphyton. Which includes<br />
Anabaena sp., Characiopsis sp., Characium sp., Microcysits sp., Navicula sp., Oscillatoia sp.,<br />
Peridinium sp., Rhizoclonium sp., Scenedesmus sp., Synedra sp., Tabellaria sp., Zygnema sp., etc.<br />
Aquatic fauna includes zooplankton <strong>and</strong> fishes. Zooplankton sp. are Keratella. Brachionus,<br />
Diaptamus. Mesocyclop, Monosyla, <strong>and</strong> Daphnia, <strong>and</strong> fishes includs Catla catla<br />
