Where are you from originally/Where did you grow up? I was born in Indianapolis and consider that “home”, but I also lived in New Jersey for 11 years as a child. How long have you been at PurdueUniversityCalumet? I came to Purdue Cal in August 2009. Can you (briefly) explain what you do as the Executive Director of International Programs? I manage internationalization efforts for the University, including administrative oversight of the English Language Program, International Admissions, International Students and Scholar, recruitment, programming, study abroad, and overseas partnerships and agreements. What is your favorite part of your job? The variety! It seems like no two days are ever the same. I always have many different things to do, issues to handle, people to meet, and places to go. There is never a dull moment, and I like it that way. How and/or why did you get into the field of education/ international programs? As a college student, I majored in Spanish and studied abroad in Spain. I was also very involved with orientation and as a resident assistant. So I pursued graduate degrees in higher education administration. This career blends my interest in learning about the world, cultures, languages with my affinity for working as an administrator in a university setting. How much of the year do you spend traveling? Around 50 days. What are some of the countries you have visited in the past 2 years? China, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Spain, India, Jordan, France and UAE are among them. Do you have a favorite country or city you have visited? Just one? Not a fair question! I have too many choices. What is your favorite type international cuisine? Again, just one? As long as a meal is followed by dessert, I am happy – no matter what the cuisine is. I have a serious sweet tooth!
