The Faculty of Medicine and Health

Sciences (FMHS) United Arab Emirates

University (UAEU) is the first accredited

medical and health sciences school in

the UAE established by the government.

As its primary mission the FMHS aims

to produce physicians and health

Master of Public Health (MPH):

The program is designed to meet the development of

needs of professionals working in or planning a career

in the field of public health or related fields such as

occupational health, environmental health, primary

care or health promotion. It will be appropriate for

those working in health and social care organizations

including health authorities, government departments,

and health service providers such as hospitals and


The course will also be appropriate for those who

wish to pursue a career in academic public health or

to learn more about epidemiology and statistics for

research or health service evaluation. Students may

come from a range of backgrounds.

The program will provide a broad academic training

in public health, occupational health, epidemiology &

biostatistics and heath care administration.

Why study this program?

This program equips students with a broad range of

competencies that are needed for planning, managing

and evaluating healthcare services and disease

prevention and health promotion programs, and

conducting health research.

The Master of Public Health program:

• Is an internationally recognized qualification in

public health.

health and epidemiology for graduate and other

professional medical qualifications working in the

public health field

Duration of study (flexibility the key) :

To accommodate the needs of working students

or family commitments this program is offered on

a flexible basis.

Study for the MPH can be on a part-time basis

over 2 years with the option to extend this to

4 years. Credits gained from assessed modules

count towards the final MPH award.

The MPH program improves skills, knowledge

and enables employees to fulfill any of a wide

range of roles in public health, health service

administration, health protection, health planning,

research or audit.

Required Credit Hours: 34 Credit Hours

Program Structure & Curriculum:

Students will enroll for 14 educational modules

over a period of 2-4 years.

A minimum of 34 credit hours are required

for graduation (including 6 hours for written

assignments). Modules are selected according to

the needs and interests of students.

• Qualitative Research Methods

* All the modules may not be offered every year.

Typical Durations: 2 Years for Full Time,

2-4 Years for Part Time

Tuition Fees: 61,400 AED

1,800 AED Per Credit Hour (34*1,800 = 61,200 AED)

200 AED Application Fee

Total 61,200 + 200 = 61,400 AED

Admission Criteria:

1. Comply with the General Requirements of the


2. Open to UAE Nationals and Non-Nationals.

3. Have a degree in Medicine, A Life Science

or other relevant subject from the UAEU or

comparable university or institution.

4. Minimum acceptable Grade Point Average

(GPA) is 2.5/4.0

Health Care Professionals licensed in UAE could

be exempted from GPA requirement.

5. English Language Test Score of 550 in TOEFL

PBT / 213 in TOEFL CBT, 79 – 80 in TOEFL IBT,

or 6.0 in IELTS Equivalent.
