my first throw. Now I think if I were to do that I would pull

every muscle and tendon in my shoulder. As we age

it seems apparent a proper warm up is that much

more important before we engage in any sport or

activity. The main benefit of a warm up is to slowly

increase your heart rate, this raises your body

temperature and gets more blood flowing to your

muscles. The blood flow properly oxygenates your

muscles and prepares them for the sport or activity.

Once your body is warmed up you can easily perform

the needed stretches to ensure flexibility and range of

motion for your activity. Try doing some form of aerobic

> Ben’s Tip of The Month:

I can remember as a kid being able to pick up a

baseball and throwing it as hard as I could from

or cardio exercise for 10-15 minutes prior to your

activity, a warm-up should be vigorous enough to invoke

mild sweating but not be so intense that it causes

fatigue.

Tennis Corner

> History of Tennis:

Origin of the scoring system in tennis:

Originally the score keeper had a pair of 'clocks'

around each of which he/she moved a pointer to

aim at 15 {min} 30 {min} and 45 {min} positions.

Over the years 45 was shortened to 40.
