SERVICE BRAKE PEDAL<br />

Method of Testing<br />

SEE NOTE (1) BELOW<br />

1. Check the anti-slip provisions on the pedal pad.<br />

2. Examine the condition of the pedal.<br />

3. Check the fixing of the pedal pad to the pedal and the fixing of the pedal to the operating lever.<br />

4. Move the pedal from side to side and examine the condition of the pedal pivot bearing/bush.<br />

5. Depress the pedal to check for fouling on parts of the vehicle.<br />

NOTES<br />

1. Before carrying out this inspection, chock the road wheels.<br />

2. Brake pedals should not be rejected for not having a pedal rubber if they were not designed to have one.<br />

REASONS FOR FAILURE<br />

1 Missing, loose or worn to the extent that it is no longer effective.<br />

2 Insecure, badly corroded or worn to the extent that<br />

the pedal can be moved from side to side.<br />

3 Excessive wear in brake pedal mounting bush.<br />

4 Pedal travel is obstructed.<br />
