Free Events<br />

<strong>City</strong>Libraries often hosts floor talks (e.g. lecture series on North Queensland’s his<strong>to</strong>ry), author talks, book<br />

launches and more. The library also holds annual events such as Living Libraries where members can<br />

‘borrow’ a living book (i.e. person!) and also the popular One Title One <strong>Townsville</strong> book club.<br />

Book Clubs<br />

<strong>City</strong>Libraries hosts a number of book clubs, with meetings held during the day and also at night time. There<br />

is no cost <strong>to</strong> join, but you need <strong>to</strong> be a library member. <strong>City</strong>Libraries provides the books each month.<br />

Information/Ask Service<br />

Your library provides an information/ask desk at the Aitkenvale, Flinders Street and Thuringowa Central<br />

branches. Staff are available <strong>to</strong> help you find material that meets your needs, ranging from how <strong>to</strong> find the<br />

name of a book <strong>to</strong> locating information for a special project.<br />

Did you know that you can access the library from home on council’s website? You can browse the<br />

catalogue, reserve new titles and recommend books for purchase. You can also access his<strong>to</strong>rical pho<strong>to</strong>s<br />

of <strong>Townsville</strong>. Our online databases provide easy access <strong>to</strong> daily local and international newspapers and<br />

quality information on health, business and the arts. Show your grandchildren through the Tumblebooks<br />

database of young people’s games and s<strong>to</strong>ries. Access <strong>to</strong> these resources and services is free and<br />

available all hours.<br />

Explore your family his<strong>to</strong>ry using the world’s biggest and most popular internet genealogy database,<br />

Ancestry.com. <strong>City</strong>Libraries provides free access <strong>to</strong> the fee-based Ancestry Database at the Aitkenvale and<br />
