Safe on ice and snow with tested
and certified Weissenfels
products.
The snowchains are specially
case hardened at Weissenfels
using the most modern gas
furnaces that technology can
offer.
Each batch of chains is
subjected to a series of both
mechanical and laboratory tests
to check their uniformity and
core hardness.
Before being released to the
market, Weissenfels snow
chains undergo a rigorous
testing and evaluation
procedure.
The tests involved are
considerably more severe than
those required by the various
type-approval classification
organizations.
In short, a Weissenfels
customer is assured that he is

The Clack&Go TM tensioning
device, made of translucent
material, doesn’t mark the wheel
at contact points.
The chain components are plastic
coated to prevent undesired
scratching and are therefore

Useful suggestions
for use of the
snowchains.
Always read carefully the chapter "Snowchains" in the vehicle "Use and Maintenance" manual to check
about any limitations to the use of snowchains.
Before buying chains,
carefully check that the
1
tyre sizes are shown on
the label for the chains you are
about to buy.
Mount the snowchains
on the drive wheels. In
2
case of a four-wheeldrive
vehicle, the chains should be
installed on all four wheels.
Always carefully read the
instructions for mounting
3
and removing the
snowchains.
It is always a good practice to
try to install and remove the
snowchains at least once in a
comfortable, dry place before
using them, in order to check
their proper fit on the tyres and
to practice putting them on and
taking them off.
When it is necessary to
use the snowchains, try
4
to mount them in a safe
place, clear of the roadway, and
if possible with the vehicle on a
levelled surface.
With conventional chains,
it is necessary to stop
5
after a few meters to
retighten them. This operation
is not necessary when using
"Clack&Go" (M44, M43, M40
and RTS) and Weisstech Plus
(M31), Weissenfels patented selftensioning
chains.
With the chains installed,
the vehicle speed should
6
not exceed 50 km/h.
Drive smoothly and limit gear
changes as much as possible.
Avoid in all cases taking turns at
high speed, reckless passes, fast
starts and hard braking.
In black ice conditions
caused by frozen water
7
on the roadway, the
chains lose their effectiveness.
In such cases proceed at a very
reduced speed and gear down
for braking rather than using the
brakes.
When meeting a road
surface without snow,
8
proceed at moderate
speed to avoid damages to the
vehicle due to vibrations and
remove the chains as soon as
possible in order to avoid their
premature wear.
A link that has worn down to over
half of its cross section is likely to
break during its use.
Always check the condition and
amount of wear of the chains
before using them. In case of
defects, stop immediately and
remove the chains.
To maintain the chains
in good condition, wash

them in running water
after using them and allow them
to dry at ambient temperature
before placing them back in their
case.

Useful suggestions for use of
the snow chains
Important information.

Tyre sizes contained
herein refer to
the official norm sizes and
specifications set by the DIN
and ETRTO (European norms) in
force at date of manufacture.
For re-tread tyres as well as for
dual-wheel tyres with special
production axle bases, a perfect
adaptability cannot always be
guaranteed.
Upon purchase please carefully
read the recommendations of
your vehicle’s manufacturer
about use of snowchains,
indicated in the vehicle’s “Use
and Maintenance” leaflet. Also,
please follow any additional
particular instructions prescribed
by your vehicle’s manufacturer.
For earth-moving equipment
tyres (“EM” tyres), tread may
have different profile heights
(L2, L3, L5), therefore the
profile’s type must always be
indicated. In case of doubt,
please advise exact diameter and
width of your tyre.
In addition to tyre sizes, please let
us know following dimensions:
“B”, “D”, “F”. With dual-wheel
tyres, if the distance is different
from the ordinary one, the standard
dual-wheel chains indicated in this
catalogue do not apply; in this case
please also advise “R” distance.
Important notice.

On mountain roads
- particularly downhill
- an additional chain should be
mounted at least on the steering
gear axle of the vehicle. On trucks,
snowchains should be mounted
on the driving axle as well as on
the second-last axle of the trailer.

Reversing of
snowchains.
In order to obtain
the longest possible chain life
and maximise the financial
investment, the chain should be
reversed once a level of 40%
of the link section has been
reached.
When the reversed side of the
chain has worn down to 40%,
the functional safety of the chain
can no longer be guaranteed
and the chain must be used any
further.
4
Interchangeability
of "XT” chains.
In order to avoid
damages to the tyres, the
anti-skid links or cleats on the
“XT” snowchains must first be
completely worn out before
reversing (should there be any
residual of links or cleats, these
must be ground off).
For this purpose, we recommend
to first “interchange” the two
chains (that is, to invert mount
them on the opposite tyre) after
having reached a 60% wear
level on the anti-skid links or
cleats. This way, links or cleats
will have a uniform wear.

In order to further increase
grip and chain life, additional
anti-skid ice links (ill. A),

heavy transport market.
This snow chain is outstanding
for both speed and ease of
fitting, especially in cases where
there is limited clearance around
the tyres. This is achieved using
a special internal inner hoop
system together with high

Performance of the Maxi is
enhanced due to the "D"
sections links, reinforced with ice
braking links (A). A high number

MASTER T chains to be used on
radial and conventional tyres

lateral tracking of this chain
combined with a relatively
low vibration guarantees quiet
running even at high speed.

Warranty
Weissenfels guarantees
the conformity of the

products to the sales
and term conditions. The
warranty for defects is limited
to design and manufacturing
defects and it is applicable only
if the buyer proves a correct
usage of the products, together
with a regular maintenance and
storage.

The warranty is limited
to 24 months, starting
from the
purchasingdate by the end-user.
The end-user has to comply with
the requirements as stated in the
following point and has to
notify his demands to
Weissenfels in writing.
Following the end-user’s
written demand,
Weissenfels can choose
to react as follows:
a. to supply free of charge, ex
factory, the same quantity of
products similar to those turn
out to be defective or not
consistent to the terms agreed;
b. to repair at its own expense
the defective product, or to
modify the one not in
compliance with the terms
agreed;
c. to resolve in writing the
contract, offering the restitution
of the price against the
restitution of the supplied
products.

Except in the case of
fraud or fault of
Weissenfels, the
eventual compensation for
damage to the end-user cannot
exceed the invoiced value of the
defected goods.

The present warranty
replaces the general
legal warranty for
defects and deformity and
excludes every other responsibility
of Weissenfels however caused
by the supplied products.
The buyer is not entitled to claim
any further damage
compensation, nor to ask for a
reduction of the price,
nor to resolve the contract.
After expiration of the
warranty, no other claims can
be made towards Weissenfels.
