The International Shooting Sport Federation announces with great
sorrow that ISSF Secretary General Horst G. Schreiber has passed
away. Mr. Schreiber departed this life at the age of 82, on Saturday,
11 December 2010, in Munich, Germany.
Mr. Schreiber was first elected as the ISSF Secretary General in
1980 and has served continuously in that capacity since. He was
most recently re-elected at the ISSF General Assembly in July 2010.
Together with ISSF President Vázquez Raña, he was part of a leadership
team that transformed the ISSF into the international governing
body of a world sport with 160 member federations as well as
into one of the strongest Olympic sports. His service to the shooting
sport was always distinguished by complete, unselfish dedication to
the best interests of the shooting sport and its athletes and national
federations.
