Riverside Rap - Riverside Christian College

As the year has started, it’s good to be reminded that
education is not just about filling the “bucket” with
knowledge; here it is, learn it and remember it – it is
about developing the skills with which to thrive in an
ever changing world. The education we provide aims
to ensure that our students are prepared fo r the
changing landscape of Australian society and
equipping them to make a difference. As a school,
we look forward to working with you in seeking to
fulfil the expectations and aspirations that you and
your children have. We look forward to pushing
them academically, and we look forward to the
opportunities to challenge them to become the man
and woman that God desired for them to become.
We hope that you will share with us in the
excitement of the opportunities that lie ahead.
In the midst of the media’s attention to ranking
schools it must be said that Riverside is a great
school - we do a great job preparing our students for
their exams and other external assessments, whilst
remaining aware that education is much more than
the grades that students receive in their QCE (Yr 12)
and NAPLAN (Yrs 3, 5, 7 & 9). Last year we were
recognised as a candidate college for our literacy
intervention, all of our Yr 12’s successfully completed
their QCE and our day school NAPLAN results placed
us in the top 50 Queensland schools.
Coming to Riverside is more than an education, it is a
life experience. All education is done within a value
framework and I am proud of the values that we instil,
through our daily activities and interactions. I am also
excited by our facilities. The first of three new
buildings for this year has been completed and we
are well on the way to spending $6.1 million.
The plans to be on the forefront of education make
this a dynamic place to work, to partner with and to
learn at.
