Bled Castle<br />
According to written sources, the oldest castle<br />
in Slovenia, first mentioned in a 1011 donation<br />
deed as castellum Veldes. Perched atop a steep<br />
cliff rising 130 meters above the glacial Lake Bled<br />
is a symbol of Bled and Slovenia – Bled Castle.<br />
Bled Island<br />
Above the surface of Bled Lake rises the only<br />
real island in Slovenia. Since the 16th century,<br />
people have been coming to the island<br />
by a special local boat with a roof, called<br />
pletna to visit the church of Mary’s Assumption<br />
and ring the famous wishing bell.<br />
Vintgar Gorge<br />
The Vintgar gorge is one of the most popular<br />
natural features in Slovenia. The path<br />
through Vintgar gorge leads along the wooden<br />
bridges, galleries and rushing river Radovna<br />
through the picturesque gorge, which measure<br />
1600m and ends with 26-metre waterfall Šum.
