World Champ Alonso To Join McLaren Mercedes In 2007
Woking, Great Britain, Monday 19th December 2005: The 2005 Formula One World Champion Fernando
Alonso and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes will be joining forces for the 2007 Formula One season. Today's announcement
comes only five days after Vodafone and McLaren Mercedes confirmed Vodafone's title sponsorship
effective from January 2007 and forms an important part of the team's long term strategic partnership.
"Its great that our strong belief in the strength and competitiveness of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes package
has been further endorsed by the World Champion," said Ron Dennis, Team Principal and Chairman and
CEO of the McLaren Group. "We always make it clear that we want to be the best and the only way of achieving
this objective is by attracting the best people, the best drivers and the best sponsors. To be able to announce
Vodafone as only McLaren's third title partner in more than 30 years and Fernando's employment within
only a few days is fantastic news for the team, our Partners, Formula One and the fans." "We are in discussions
with our current drivers' Kimi Raikkonen and Juan Pablo Montoya regarding the 2007 season," continues Ron
Dennis. "Both Juan Pablo and Kimi are extremely talented, professional and competitive Formula One drivers
and they have and will continue to concentrate on our joint challenge for
the Championships."
"Fernando and McLaren Mercedes wanted to make the announcement as soon as possible in a controlled and
professional manner to allow McLaren Mercedes, Fernando, Kimi and Juan Pablo to focus on the preparations
for the 2006 season," stated Ron Dennis.
CSCC Board of Director - Final Election Ballot Due
The Nominating Ballot process for the 2006 Chicagoland Sports Car Club Board of Director (BoD) election is
being tabulated, and the Final Election Ballot will be in the mail soon. The names of members that acquired the
top eight positions form the Nominating Ballot process, and are willing to serve as a member of the CSCC BoD
will appear on the Final Ballot.
It was reported that despite self-addressed and pre-stamped Nominating Ballot process, member response was
below 50% for the first phase of the process. The election of Club officers is a process that the new BOD will
address when they meet for the first time in 2006. The BOD will be comprised of seven (7) members that are
elected to serve for a two (2) year term. In alternate years, a different number of BOD members are elected per
the terms of the Club Bylaws.
This process provides continuity, as the entire Board will not change from year to year. The number of Board
Members is derived form the number of active CSCC members in the previous year (2005), with one BOD
member for each 12 Club members.
Watch your mailbox for that 2006 CSCC BoD Final Election Ballot that will be there soon. In the Chicago tradition,
remember to vote early and often.
Ferrari Clubs Reunite Under “Scuderia Ferrari Club” Banner
Maranello, 23rd December 2005 – Ferrari announces to all its fans that, as from 1st January, all existing clubs
and their members will be reunited under the banner of “Scuderia Ferrari Club”, a new non-profit making limited
company. The new company has Ferrari S.p.A. as its founding club, with a Capital of 105,000 Euro. For obvious
reasons, including the use of brand names, it is planned that Ferrari will remain the major share holder.
All clubs currently recognized by Ferrari will be invited to the first official appearance of the 2006 F1 car, due to
take place at Mugello in the second half of January. On this occasion and in the presence of a public notary,
club presidents will be able to draw up subscription documents, with all relevant costs met by Ferrari. Existing
clubs can join at a cost of 200 Euro per year, which among other benefits will see the club provided with the
identification badges for their sections, letterheads and posters to decorate their clubhouse – while an extra 40
Euro one-off payment is needed to enroll in “Scuderia Ferrari Club.”
Individual members can pay a subscription of 20 Euro plus VAT per year (5 Euro plus VAT for family and junior
membership.) They will receive a personal membership card with which they can enjoy planned benefits and
services, at no additional cost. The main advantages are factory visits in Maranello, attending Formula 1 test
days, free tickets to the Ferrari grandstands at the Imola and Monza GPs for Friday practice, discount on products
from the Ferrari Store at Maranello and on admission to the Galleria Ferrari, as well as for events organized
by the Prancing Horse company. In addition, they will have access to a special community on the www.
Ferrariworld.com site, which provides live news on the company and its Formula 1 activity, including videos.
Michael & Marco Make Andretti Team Plans for 2006 Indy 500
INDIANAPOLIS, Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005 - An Andretti will be back in the driver’s seat in the Indianapolis 500
this May. Better yet, make that two Andrettis. Indy legend Michael Andretti and his son Marco announced Dec.
20 that they will compete in the 90th Indianapolis 500 on May 28, 2006 as teammates with Andretti Green Racing.
Marco Andretti also will drive for AGR in the entire 2006 Indy Car Series season. It’s the first time an Andretti
will be in the field since 2003, when Michael Andretti last drove in a race before focusing entirely on his coownership
role at AGR. Michael Andretti led twice for 28 laps during that race before a broken throttle linkage
ended his day after 94 laps. He placed 27th. Michael Andretti will drive the Jim Bedonage Dallara/Honda/
Firestone at Indy. Marco Andretti will drive the No. 26 ArcaEx Dallara/Honda/Firestone.
