BECOM<strong>in</strong>g<br />
AN OFFICER.<br />
There are two different ways <strong>to</strong> <strong>become</strong><br />
<strong>an</strong> officer <strong>in</strong> the Army. You c<strong>an</strong> <strong>become</strong><br />
a General Service Officer (GSO) w<strong>it</strong>h or<br />
w<strong>it</strong>hout a degree qualification, work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong><br />
such fields as communications, logistics<br />
<strong>an</strong>d adm<strong>in</strong>istration. If you’re study<strong>in</strong>g a<br />
specialist degree such as Medic<strong>in</strong>e, Nurs<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
Dentistry or Eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g you c<strong>an</strong> <strong>become</strong><br />
a Specialist Service Officer (SSO). Once<br />
you’ve graduated from your degree you’ll<br />
be employed <strong>in</strong> your relev<strong>an</strong>t field.<br />
Whether you choose <strong>to</strong> <strong>become</strong> a GSO<br />
or SSO, there are m<strong>an</strong>y methods of entry<br />
