futures pathway
Our major career information session
this year was “Future Pathways” held in
June. Many agencies attended including
a range of University Faculty reps,
Forces, Employment agencies, Training
organisations and overseas exchange
programs. Current students could discuss
opportunities and source information to
assist them in their planning for post year
12. With many ex-students representing
the diverse organisations, the event was
well received by the current Newstead
College cohort.
On 19 July, it was time to break out the festivities and
celebrate our annual Christmas in Winter with our
International Students. A fun evening was enjoyed by all
in Café Cypress. A delicious meal of roast turkey and plum
pudding was prepared and served to us by the Certificate
II in Hospitality students. To add to the festive cheer there
were Christmas carols, bon bons with pathetic jokes and of
course, a visit from a very jolly Santa who delivered presents
to us all, regardless of if we had been good or bad. Santa
brought with him some naughty bells which rang a lot!
We also celebrated two birthdays: Max from Germany and
Joe- Louis from France both turned 16. Danette’s famous
chocolate cakes were a hit with the students. Sadly, we
farewelled a number of our exchange students: Max, Joe-
Louis, Arthur and Coline (French exchange students) and
Katharina from Austria who has been with us for a year. We
greatly value the contribution these students make to the
College. On a brighter note we welcomed four German
students who are with us until the end of term two: Lisa,
Tatjana, Cara and Larissa.
in July
Thanks is extended to Kaye and Danette and their students
for a beautiful meal and excellent service and a very
special thankyou to Santa for making the long trip from the
North Pole.
