Description
Apogee Sound International's DLC24, with its digital engine and analog surface, combines the most advanced technology available
with intuitive interfaces to provide the key elements that ensure optimal loudspeaker system performance and management in a
variety of live sound and fixed installation applications.
In addition to the analog surface control, the DLC24 includes two software programs that enable the user to custom configure the DLC24
for use with any Apogee speaker type and provide remote operational control and monitoring of the speaker system through a PC. The
software provides the user remote access to all front panel controls, up to 12 bands of parametric equalization (per input channel), up to
Digital & Analog Control
Digital Control - The DLC24 uses two software programs that
enable the user to custom configure the DLC24 for use with any
combination of Apogee speaker types and provide remote operational
control and monitoring of the speaker system through a PC.
Once configured, the DLC24 recalls all loudspeaker parameters on
power up, no additional programming required. At the same time,
the DLC24 offers the user the flexibility of reconfiguring the controller
in the field for any current Apogee loudspeaker or system
requirements.
Analog Control - Simply connect the inputs and outputs and the
unit is ready to use. It will operate like a classic analog loudspeaker
controller with local level, polarity, and filter controls, as well as
signal, limit, and overload indicators. This limited system control
can be a welcomed safety feature for less skilled operators.
Smaller Systems - Using the ADAM software and a laptop
computer, the user can connect (via RS232) to the front of the
DLC24 with a standard 9-pin serial cable. With this connection the
user gains access to level, parametric equalization, delay, and
system status information. The system can then be tuned and the
laptop removed. This not only hides the critical system settings
from users that are not authorized to change them, but also saves
rack space and substantial cost by combining outboard equalizers
and delay units within the loudspeaker controller.
Larger Systems - Using the RS422 input and loop through on
the rear of the unit, as many DLC24s as are required can be
connected in parallel and controlled from a remote location. A
system can be designed using ADAM and system parameters
can be adjusted in real time. The user can monitor system status
information, like overload and limiting, at all times.
Fully Integrated Systems - The DLC24 can easily integrate into
larger, building-wide networks, allowing for single interface
facility control. Touch screen controllers or any other devices
capable of serial command can control the DLC24. Using the
ADAM software, system presets can be created and stored in the
DLC24 for future recall from other devices.
Software
Two software programs are used with the DLC24, the DLC24 Speaker Configuration Software and ADAM Software. Both are available as
free downloads from the Apogee website.
DLC24 Speaker Configuration Software
The DLC24 Speaker Configuration Software enables the user to custom configure the DLC24 for use with any Apogee speaker
type. The DLC24 Speaker Configuration Software enables the user to select Apogee speaker types, enable or disable the Polarity
switch for that particular speaker, assign channels to a speaker, assign inputs to a speaker, and add channel descriptions for
reference purposes in ADAM. The software will automatically assign the necessary outputs for bi-amped and tri-amped speakers.
Outputs - Apogee speaker
types are selected from
the drop-down menu next
to each output. Bi-amped
and tri-amped speaker
outputs are automatically
assigned.
Polarity - Polarity may be
enabled or disabled.
Channel Membership - Channel
Membership is selected on an
individual speaker basis.
Browse - Directories may
be browsed to search for
Apogee speaker type
configuration files (.cfg).
Input Selection - Input
Selection is determined on
an individual speaker basis.
Channel Descriptions -
This is the user-defined
default name that will
appear in the Channel
and Status Windows in
ADAM.
Create Download File -
Saves the user-created
speaker configuration to a
configuration download file
(.cdl).
COM 1 - COM port of the
PC selected in order to
download the configuration
download file (.cdl).
Scan Network - Scans
Network to search and
detect any DLC24 units on
the network.
Download - Downloads the
configuration download file
(.cdl) to selected DLC24
unit(s).
ADAM Software
The ADAM Software provides control and monitoring of the DLC24 through a PC, plus allows the use of a wide variety of additional
features. Apogee’s ADAM software offers:
• System Design Capabilities - Create Rooms, Arrays,
Subarrays, and Speakers
• Real-time Channel/Loudspeaker Status Information
• Gain, Delay, and EQ Control
• Snapshots
• Global, Room, Array, Subarray, and Factory
Default Resets
• Hardware Presets
• User/Designer Mode
Gain and Delay can be individually set for each channel
or can be set for groups of channels at one time.
Each input channel is capable of up to 1356 ms of delay.
MAIN WINDOW
Under the View drop-down menu, the hardware
presets allow the user to save the system’s
settings so that they can be loaded via a
non-Apogee device. Hardware presets are
saved directly to the DLC24’s hardware memory.
There are up to 12 fully parametric filters available per
input channel. Filters can be Bandpass, Highpass,
Lowpass, Highshelf or Lowshelf types.
A great deal of real time information
is available from each channel/loudspeaker
panel.
Gain, Delay, and EQ settings
may be saved via Snapshots.
Snapshots can be particularly
helpful for saving and
recalling settings for different
scenarios.
