ROW-CROP CULTIVATORS AND ROTARY HOES

ECONOMICAL AND EFFECTIVE CHEMICAL-FREE WEED CONTROL
With today’s growing concern for chemical-resistant
weeds and genetically modified crops, the economic
and agronomic advantages of mechanical cultivation
quickly add up. For flexible, low-cost crop care, look to
the high-performance line of row-crop cultivators and
rotary hoes from Case IH.
Economically, mechanical cultivation offers a per-acre
operating cost as low as $2.98* USD for cultivators and
$1.36* for a rotary hoe. As you face increasing competition
in the marketplace, reducing input costs is one way to
maximize your profitability.
In addition to providing effective, economical weed kill,
mechanical cultivation also offers a number of agronomic
benefits. For example, breaking up the crust helps aerate the
soil and improve water infiltration. This can increase yields,
especially in poorly drained soils where oxygen stress can
cause root rot. And unlike chemical control, weeds cannot
build up resistance to mechanical cultivation!
Case IH row-crop cultivators bring multi-purpose
productivity to your fields. For example, the 2240 can
be equipped with listing attachments to build beds and
the 2220 lets you apply liquid fertilizer in the same pass.
Customize your Case IH cultivator to your conditions — from
conventional to no-till and everything in between. A wide
range of available models with a number of options and
attachments lets you tailor the unit to match your specific
requirements. And faster operating speeds help you cover
more acres in a day during the prime window for crop care.
THE ADDED VALUE OF MULTI-PURPOSE TILLAGE TOOLS
Perfect for a wide variety of crops and farming practices, the 1830 row-crop
cultivator provides excellent weed control and cultivation in conventional and
mulch-till conditions.
Ideal for growers of cotton, corn and soybeans, the heavy-duty 2240 row-crop
cultivator offers multi-purpose productivity from a precision tillage tool.
For cost-effective control of small weeds, rely on a Case IH 181 rotary hoe.
Available in conventional and mulch-till versions, the 181 rotary hoe kills
young weeds and shatters crusts for improved aeration and water infiltration.
At speeds above 7 mph (11 kph), large-acreage operations
of corn, soybeans and sugar beets will find the 2220
row-crop cultivator a productive performer in all conditions.
For additional versatility, you can even apply fertilizer in
the same pass!
ALL-CROP CULTIVATING FOR CONVENTIONAL AND MULCH-TILL CONDITIONS
Superior weed control and cultivation have helped
make the Case IH 1830 row-crop cultivator
a popular performer in conventional and mulch-till
conditions. With five rigid and five hydraulic folding
versions, a 4- to 16-row model is available on wide
or narrow spacing. A rugged tubular steel mainframe
and heavy-duty linkage gangs offer up to 40 in. (102 cm)
of fore-aft clearance for easy residue flow.
When choosing shank assemblies and crop shields,
consider your soil type and conditions, cultivation needs,
row spacing and residue levels. For excellent soil movement,
effective weed control and residue management, configure
the 1830 cultivator to match your particular practices and
soil conditions. A three-shank configuration is best suited
for 28-30 in. (71-76 cm) row spacing, while the five-shank
configuration is recommended for 36-40 in. (91-101 cm)
row spacing.
Depending on your soil type and desired operating
speeds, choose from three different shank assemblies. The
Vibra Tine ® shank is an S-shaped shank designed
for use in light to normal soils. It’s perfect for
high-speed work in conventional seedbeds
where small weeds are prevalent.
The Vibra Till shank has a higher point load than
the Vibra Tine. Designed for use in tough weed conditions,
light rocks and medium soils, this S-shaped edge-on shank
can be used on narrow- or wide-row configurations.
Ideal for tough weeds and heavy soils, the Vibra
Shank ® has a point load of 110 lbs. (49.5 kg) for
aggressive action in mulch-till applications. The independent
spring-loaded assembly allows the shank to move over
obstructions without affecting the working depth of the row
unit. This tension-type spring provides the desired vibrating
action for uniform soil sifting and removal of stubborn weeds.
You can also match crop shields to your crops and
cultivating needs. Equip the 1830 with rolling shields
to cultivate faster in reduced-tillage conditions. Or add
open-top shields, which work well with a wide variety
of crops and conditions. And tunnel shields provide
extra protection at vulnerable stages for small crops such
as sugar beets and vegetables.
The popular 1830 row-crop
cultivator is well-suited for a
wide range of row crops and
farming practices. Available
with either three- or five-tool
assemblies and your choice
of shanks and shields, the
proven 1830 provides
excellent weed control and
cultivation in conventional
and mulch-till conditions.
PROFITABLE PRODUCTIVITY WITH APPLICATION FLEXIBILITY
With mechanical weed control, productivity is the key
to profitability. The new Case IH 2220 row-crop
cultivator is a multi-purpose row-tillage tool for added
versatility and operational flexibility. And at operating speeds
of above 7 mph (11 kph), you’ll quickly cover your many
acres of corn, soybeans and sugar beets.
Today, row-crop cultivators can do much more than
simply kill weeds within the row. With the 2220, you can
cultivate and fertilize with one productive pass. Side-dress
liquid fertilizer, band-apply herbicide, and spray pesticides
while cultivating.
Stainless steel tubes fit under each sweep blade to let you
apply liquid fertilizer while cultivating. In light soil and low
draft conditions, you can use these same tubes for anhydrous.
Or add the single anhydrous knife adapter for fall, preplant
or side-dress applications. The 2220’s ability for precise
placement of chemicals and nutrients helps minimize costs
and maximize benefits.
Available in eight different versions with rigid and
hydraulic fold configurations from six to 24 rows of
productivity, the 2220 row-crop cultivator fits row spacings
for narrow-row crops on 20 or 22 in. (51 or 56 cm) on up
to 40 in. (102 cm) wide rows.
The compact, durable row unit of the 2220 features a
wide, wrap-around parallel linkage to resist twisting forces in
tough no-till conditions. This unique forward mounting design
also reduces the hitch lifting requirements.
Choose from an adjustable spring-trip or rigid row
unit depending on your conditions. In rocky areas, the
spring-trip design offers added protection plus positive sweep
placement in hard soils where a traditional spring-cushioned
shank may ride out of the ground. The rigid row unit is an
economical option in areas where rocks are not a concern.
Each row unit leads with a large single front tire
(6.5x16.5) for independent depth control and contour
flotation. The tubeless pneumatic tire flexes easily to shed
soil in sticky conditions.
A center-mounted 18 in. (46 cm) solid single-disk coulter
helps loosen hard no-till soils and cut residue for easier
cultivation. It also provides superior tracking and acts as
a stabilizer for the cultivator.
Both the depth gauge wheel and center coulter can be
adjusted independently to meet your specific cultivating needs.
A simple hand crank offers quick, easy adjustments, which
can be made conveniently from the rear of the machine.
Equip the 2220 row-crop cultivator
with a regular one-piece sweep or the
three-piece assembly with replaceable
point and blades. Choose the
sweep or blade width you
need for row-spacing
requirements and
tillage preferences.
You can also adjust the soil-engaging angle of either
assembly within a 5-position range. In harder soils, set the
engagement angle to be more aggressive.
Customize your 2220 cultivator with crop shields
(rolling or open top) to protect young plants, a ridging wing
attachment and extension for light ridging or bed building,
barring off disks to pull soil away from the crop, or a rear
hitch to tow an anhydrous tank.
productive, multi-purpose row-crop cultivator.
One-piece with 14/16/18/20/24/26 in. (36/41/46/51/61/66 cm) regular sweep widths.
Three-piece with 18/21.5/24/26 in. (46/55/61/66 cm) Super Sweep widths.
OPTIONS/ATTACHMENTS:
Open top shields; folding row markers; lift assist wheels; rear tank hitch; listing wing (Super Sweep only).
Add open top shields to the 2240 to protect tender, young plants from
soil throw while cultivating. These 48x18 in. (122x46 cm) shields are fully
adjustable for maximum crop safety.
For added versatility with the 2240 row-crop cultivator, add the
optional listing wing attachment (shown) to the Super Sweep.
It moves soil closer to the plants to help stifle weeds next to the
row. You can also use the listing wing with row markers to build
beds or ridges for seedbed preparation with certain crops.
SHATTER CRUSTS AND KILL WEEDS WITH COST-EFFECTIVE CROP CARE
Cost-effectively control small weeds and shatter crusts
with Case IH 181 rotary hoes. Ideal for mulch-till and
conventional conditions, these rotary hoes quickly rip out
small weeds and shatter crusts that can choke out young
emerging plants. Plus, the crust-busting action of the 181
rotary hoe greatly improves soil aeration and moisture
absorption to help maximize your yield potential.
Available as a standard or mulch-till model in rigid and
folding configurations, the 181 rotary hoe comes in working
widths from 15 to 41 ft. (4.6 to 12.5 m) to fit your row
spacing needs from 4-row wide up to 16-row narrow. The
mulch-till version of the 181 rotary hoe features staggered
wheels with an extra 16 in. (41 cm) of clearance between
ranks to allow for easier residue flow.
Large 21 in. (53 cm) diameter mulch-till hoe wheels
ride on sealed ball bearings for smooth operation. Each
rugged wheel boasts 16 self-sharpening teeth. This proven
design ensures easy penetration and aggressive hoe action.
Each hoe wheel is individually mounted on an
independent, spring-loaded arm to let each hoe assembly
maintain a constant penetrating depth while the wheels
follow ground contours.
To keep you running, self-cleaning pivot arms and
wide-spaced hub mountings prevent soil and residue from
building up between the wheels and arms.
Massive 7x7 in. (178x178 mm) steel mainframes form
a solid backbone for the wide working widths of the four
larger models. Sturdy 5x7 in. (127x178 mm) tool bars
support the smaller models.
Rotary hoes are a simple, cost-effective way to uproot small weeds and shatter
crusts that can choke out young crops. Aggressive action of the tine-tooth wheels
kills weeds, breaks up crusts, improves aeration and aids in moisture absorption.
