ALL-CROP CULTIVATING FOR CONVENTIONAL AND MULCH-TILL CONDITIONS
Superior weed control and cultivation have helped
make the Case IH 1830 row-crop cultivator
a popular performer in conventional and mulch-till
conditions. With five rigid and five hydraulic folding
versions, a 4- to 16-row model is available on wide
or narrow spacing. A rugged tubular steel mainframe
and heavy-duty linkage gangs offer up to 40 in. (102 cm)
of fore-aft clearance for easy residue flow.
When choosing shank assemblies and crop shields,
consider your soil type and conditions, cultivation needs,
row spacing and residue levels. For excellent soil movement,
effective weed control and residue management, configure
the 1830 cultivator to match your particular practices and
soil conditions. A three-shank configuration is best suited
for 28-30 in. (71-76 cm) row spacing, while the five-shank
configuration is recommended for 36-40 in. (91-101 cm)
row spacing.
Depending on your soil type and desired operating
speeds, choose from three different shank assemblies. The
Vibra Tine ® shank is an S-shaped shank designed
for use in light to normal soils. It’s perfect for
high-speed work in conventional seedbeds
where small weeds are prevalent.
The Vibra Till shank has a higher point load than
the Vibra Tine. Designed for use in tough weed conditions,
light rocks and medium soils, this S-shaped edge-on shank
can be used on narrow- or wide-row configurations.
Ideal for tough weeds and heavy soils, the Vibra
Shank ® has a point load of 110 lbs. (49.5 kg) for
aggressive action in mulch-till applications. The independent
spring-loaded assembly allows the shank to move over
obstructions without affecting the working depth of the row
unit. This tension-type spring provides the desired vibrating
action for uniform soil sifting and removal of stubborn weeds.
You can also match crop shields to your crops and
cultivating needs. Equip the 1830 with rolling shields
to cultivate faster in reduced-tillage conditions. Or add
open-top shields, which work well with a wide variety
of crops and conditions. And tunnel shields provide

cultivator is a multi-purpose row-tillage tool for added
versatility and operational flexibility. And at operating speeds
of above 7 mph (11 kph), you’ll quickly cover your many
acres of corn, soybeans and sugar beets.
Today, row-crop cultivators can do much more than
simply kill weeds within the row. With the 2220, you can
cultivate and fertilize with one productive pass. Side-dress
liquid fertilizer, band-apply herbicide, and spray pesticides
while cultivating.
Stainless steel tubes fit under each sweep blade to let you
apply liquid fertilizer while cultivating. In light soil and low
draft conditions, you can use these same tubes for anhydrous.
Or add the single anhydrous knife adapter for fall, preplant
or side-dress applications. The 2220’s ability for precise
placement of chemicals and nutrients helps minimize costs
and maximize benefits.
Available in eight different versions with rigid and
hydraulic fold configurations from six to 24 rows of
productivity, the 2220 row-crop cultivator fits row spacings
for narrow-row crops on 20 or 22 in. (51 or 56 cm) on up
to 40 in. (102 cm) wide rows.
The compact, durable row unit of the 2220 features a
wide, wrap-around parallel linkage to resist twisting forces in
tough no-till conditions. This unique forward mounting design
also reduces the hitch lifting requirements.
Choose from an adjustable spring-trip or rigid row
unit depending on your conditions. In rocky areas, the
spring-trip design offers added protection plus positive sweep
placement in hard soils where a traditional spring-cushioned
shank may ride out of the ground. The rigid row unit is an
economical option in areas where rocks are not a concern.
Each row unit leads with a large single front tire
(6.5x16.5) for independent depth control and contour
flotation. The tubeless pneumatic tire flexes easily to shed
soil in sticky conditions.
A center-mounted 18 in. (46 cm) solid single-disk coulter
helps loosen hard no-till soils and cut residue for easier
cultivation. It also provides superior tracking and acts as
a stabilizer for the cultivator.
Both the depth gauge wheel and center coulter can be
