Overview
Almost overnight, mobile devices and
applications have changed the way all
kinds of organizations operate, creating
new challenges for IT departments. In
response to the demands of device
users and the cost and efficiency
benefits mobility offers, large
enterprises are rapidly transitioning
from wired to wireless communication. And their IT organizations are suddenly
confronted with stressful new challenges.
This is the need Meru Networks meets, and the problem we solve. Meru delivers
virtualized wireless LAN solutions—based on the industry’s most advanced
architecture, MobileFLEX, that deliver reliable, easily managed, secure, costeffective
wireless connectivity to handle the density and device diversity of
today’s bring-your-own-device (BYOD) networks.
Meru’s technology is designed for mobility, not just reengineered to accommodate
devices that won’t stay put for wired networks. We hold patents for innovations in:
• Data transmission
• Multiuser detection and interference suppression
• Signal-to-noise-ratio-based rate adaptation
• Wireless rate adaptation
• Seamless mobility
• Flow inspection
• Power-over-Ethernet access points
• Wireless security
Fully and seamlessly integrated, our architecture enables us to do things
differently, freeing the 802.11 standard to deliver more than ever before.
Meru-designed wireless LANs offer single-channel operation, centralized control
of all wireless traffic, and smooth handoffs—all features that are now standard
in cellular networks. Meru’s early innovations led directly to virtualized wireless
LANs that are recognized by Gartner as the first fourth-generation wireless
systems—and that threaten to end wired Ethernet’s dominance at the network edge.
Ninety percent of Meru installations replace legacy systems that let each
device choose how and where to connect from among many options, without
regard for the needs of other devices. As more devices connect, disconnect,
and reconnect, these legacy networks can’t maintain consistent, high-quality
service because they can’t manage resources effectively.
Corporate Fact Sheet
With Meru, intelligent network control manages traffic more
effectively, each device sees a single point of access and
all wireless traffic is orchestrated to deliver an excellent user
experience.
And now, with new virtualized editions of our controller
software, IT departments can opt for the flexibility of
deploying their mobility solution in their data centers or
private clouds.
