Peace means much more than freedom
from chaos of calamity. It is the peace that
comes from being made whole. This is the
kind of peace you experience when you
have nothing missing and nothing broken
in your life. God provides this peace, this
completeness when we keep our minds
focused on Him.
The mind plays an important role in receiving
from God. In a sense, the mind
acts like a valve controlling the flow of
faith. We have to process the Word of God
through our ears and eyes. This information
processes in the mind before traveling
into the heart. Jesus taught this process
in Matthew 13 when He said, "“For
this people's heart is waxed gross, and
their ears are dull of hearing, and their
eyes they have closed; lest at any time
they should see with their eyes, and hear
with their ears, and should understand
with their heart, and should be converted,
and I should heal them." (Matthew
13:15 KJV)
Thoughts are raw materials that build
imaginations. If you collect wrong
thoughts, you will build an erroneous
imagination. You collect information in
thought form and make decisions based on
those thoughts. Those decisions can
change your life. You definitely want to
base those decisions on truth and not just
the facts.
In Ephesians 4:22-24, God instructs us
to put off the old behavior and be renewed
in our mind. This word "renewed" means

to be renovated. Have you seen the reality
shows that take old, ugly houses and
transform them into beautiful, modern
homes? Our minds are key in renewing our
lives like those homes are transformed.
When we first moved to Kansas City, I
found a job cleaning and painting homes for
a management company. When their tenants
moved out, they usually left the house in
disrepair. The houses were full of trash,
roaches and moldy food. People left behind
broken furniture and old clothes. Most of
the time, it took an entire day to empty out
the refuse from the house. I would spend
hours scrubbing dirty bathtubs and rancid
refrigerators.
After everything was clean, I could begin
applying a fresh coat of paint and repair any
broken electrical outlets. When it was all
finished, the house would sparkle. My boss
who had seen the previous condition would
be amazed at how great the house would
look! It had been renovated.
I spent the first twenty-three years of my
life filling my mind with wrong thoughts. I
took on opinions and thought processes that
were totally against God's way of doing
things. So when I received Jesus as my
Lord, I had a lot of trash in my mind. I had
to clean out all of the fear, worry, cuss
words, and hatred that I had accumulated in
my mind. I had to quit thinking like a loser
and start thinking like a believer equipped
with God's Word.
Romans 12:2 uses the word
"transformed." And be not conformed to
this world: but be ye transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that ye may prove
what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect,
will of God. (Romans 12:2 KJV)
This word indicates "metamorphosis."
Just like a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly,
you can experience supernatural
transformation by feeding your mind God's
thoughts.
The New Testament instruction to keep
the peace of God protecting your mind is
found in Philippians 4:6-9. And the peace of
God, which passeth all understanding, shall
keep your hearts and minds through Christ
Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things
are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever
things are just, whatsoever things are
pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever
things are of good report; if there be
any virtue, and if there be any praise, think
on these things. (Philippians 4:7, 8 KJV)
Do an inventory of the thoughts you are
thinking. Do they meet these guidelines? If
not, you have some thoughts and imaginations
to cast down. It is time to choose God's
thoughts and focus on them!

Jesus Christ has made it possible for us to leave behind all of our
failures, sins and shame. The life Jesus gives is a life worth living.
Maybe you have struggled with the guilt of your past. Maybe failures have convinced you
that there is no use to try again. I have good news for you! Your life can really change.
Before I met Jesus Christ, I was guilty of
many things. As a teenager, I ran away from
home and ended up caught in a life of prostitution
and drug addiction. By the age of
twenty-three, I was facing the possibility of
ten years in the state prison for attempted
armed robbery. I lost custody of my children.
I died of a drug overdose more than once. The
shame of my lifestyle convinced me there was
no need to stop. Even if I managed to stop
getting high and stop breaking the law, I was
still guilty for all of the things I had already
done. Drugs became an escape from the mess
I had created.
How could Jesus dying on a cross make a
change in my life? That was the real question!
Here is what I learned that transformed
my life.
Nothing I could do would clear me of the
guilt. I was guilty as charged! But, I discovered
Jesus had supplied His blood to deal
with every sin I had committed.
The next day John sees Jesus coming unto him,
and said, “Behold the Lamb of God, which takes
away the sin of the world.” John 1:29
God had already established blood as a
supernatural means to cover sin in the Old
Testament. But, the blood of Jesus was capable
of cleansing where the animal’s blood
only covered. Jesus poured out His sinless
blood on the cross as a payment for my sin.
It was the only thing that could clear me of
guilt. This blood changed my life from being
a life in bondage to sin to a life free from
sin’s control.
…Unto Him that loved us and washed us from
our sins in His own blood. Revelations 1:5b
When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord
and Savior, we have to know that this
change has taken place and what this
change means to our everyday life. We are
no longer under the control of sin, guilt or
shame. We have been cleansed. We are
guilt-free and shameless. This freedom
changes everything.
It is the guilt and shame that causes us to
self-destruct. It is the inner pain that drives
the cutter to cut. Shame motivates the addict
to pierce their vein time after time.
Knowing that freedom is available to live a
life free from regret and shame will change

You can receive Jesus
Christ as your Lord and
Savior. Simply pray this prayer in faith.
Heavenly Father, I come to you in the
name of Jesus. Your Word says,
“Whosoever shall call on the name of
the Lord shall be saved.” You said, “If
you shall confess with your mouth the
Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your
heart that God has raised Him from the
dead, you shall be saved.” (Acts 2:21;
Romans 10:9) You said my salvation
would be the result of Your Holy Spirit
giving me new birth by coming to live
in me (John 3:5-6; 15-16; Romans 8:9-
11) and that if I would ask, You would
fill me with Your Spirit and give me the
ability to speak with other tongues.
(Luke 11:13; Acts 2:4)
I take you at Your Word. I confess that
Jesus is Lord. I believe in my heart that
You raised Him from the dead. Thank
You for coming into my heart, for giving
me Your Holy Spirit as You have
promised, and for being Lord over my
life.

The Guilt
I wasn’t trying to hide the fact I was guilty. I was trying to forget
about it. But, every time the drugs wore off, there was
more shame to remind me.
No one else could see the shame that haunted me. Everyone
could see the results of the self-destruction that shame was
producing in my life.
The Blood
Then, I found the blood that removed my guilt . . .

Once I accepted what the blood of Jesus had
bought for me, I began walking in the truth of it.
A lot of people thought I should be reminded of
the years I spent in prostitution. Some thought I
should live in constant fear of returning to the
drug addiction. But I took God at His Word
when He said, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature; old things are passed away and all things are
become new. And all things are of God…” II Corinthians
5:17-18a
I moved “in Christ” when I accepted Jesus as
the One who paid the price for my sins. All of
the old things I did and the ruthless, cruel person
I was passed away on that day-August 10 th ,
1992. Michelle B.C. (Before Christ) was a prostitute,
junkie, poor-excuse-for-a-mother and failure
in life. But I was raised up from addiction. I
was resurrected out of failure and hopelessness.
The blood cleansed me and qualified me for the
new life of Jesus Christ.
Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings
and trespasses, He made us alive together in
fellowship and in union with Christ; [He gave us the
very life of Christ Himself, the same new life
with which He quickened Him, for] it is by grace
(His favor and mercy which you did not deserve) that you
are saved ( [a] delivered from judgment and made partakers
of Christ's salvation). Ephesians 2:5 AMP
There is only one way for our lives to really
change. Change your life source. Jesus gave me
His life when I surrendered mine to Him. Now,
in Him I live. In Him I move. In Him I have my
being.
