YMCA DAY CAMP DESCRIPTIONS
YMCA Summer Camps
Each week is unique and action packed! Campers will experience
indoor and outdoor activities and games, weekly campfires and
a wide variety of sports. Make new friends! Learn new things!

Ages 4-5 years, Weeks 1-9

French Immersion Camp / Camp d’immersion française
Ages 6-8 years, Weeks 1-9
The traditional camp program lead by a bilingual counselor
focusing on children already in French immersion programs
seeking to practice their French outside of school.
Le plomb camp traditionnel programme par un conseiller bilingue
en se concentrant sur les enfants déjà en programmes d’immersion
française qui cherchent à pratiquer leur français en dehors de l’école.
YMCA Specialty Camps
Campers will be inspired to create, explore and express
themselves through various mediums with the expert guidance
from a passionate instructor.
All Sorts of Sports
Ages 9-12 years, Week 3 or 7
Campers will be introduced to a variety of non-traditional sports,
blended with familiar ones. All Sorts of Sports emphasizes fair
play, teamwork, and sportsmanship while developing basic
sports skills. Includes drills, training, cooperative and creative
games and swimming.
Ages 12-15 years, Week 1
Designed to increase confidence and provide hands on
experience and skills needed to be a good babysitter. Learning
to be prepared and lead games for children. Understanding the
fundamentals of how to develop a healthy child in their care.
Basic first aid is discussed.
YMCA Specialty Camps - cont’d
Ball Hockey Camp
Ages 6-8 & 9-12 years, Week 2
This introductory program allows campers to learn about
the game of ball hockey in a fun and non-competitive
environment. Campers will participate in games and drills
that reinforce all the fundamental skills of ball hockey.
Campers will practice skills such as shooting, passing, stick
handling, agility and endurance. The skilled YMCA staff will
also emphasize the importance of fair play, sportsmanship
Imagination Sensation Camp
Ages 6-8 & 9-12 years, Week 5 or 9
Campers can experience a wide variety of art forms such as
acting, music, crafts, art and writing, as well as additional
art forms depending on the group’s interest. The emphasis
is on discovery through the arts by igniting your child’s
imagination with projects and productions.
Jump Into Fitness
Ages 9-12 years, Week 6
Let’s get moving! We are extra healthy and active this week
with visits from our in-house personal trainers. Everything
from Boot Camp to Zumba will be included as well as sports
conditioning. We will learn about healthy food choices and
make our own power smoothies.
Leaders of Tomorrow
Ages 13-15 years, Weeks 3 & 4
An exciting two week leadership experience that will include
teambuilding, high and low ropes, as well as a group
initiated community project. Focusing on YMCA core values,
campers will not only learn to work and cooperate with
others, but also a lot about themselves individually.
Silly Science Camp
Ages 6-8 & 9-12 years, Week 4 or 8
If you have a passion for exploring and experimenting, you
will have an outstanding time exploring the silly side of
science. Learn about slimy creatures, oozing fluids, and other
disgusting stuff. Come prepared to explore and get dirty.
YMCA Financial Assistance
The Chatham-Kent YMCA is committed to providing
camp to families regardless of ability to pay. If you require
financial assistance, please contact the membership
service desk to book an appointment. Online application
form available at www.ymcaswo.ca
The Chatham-Kent YMCA Day Camp program accepts children
on municipal subsidy with proper approval forms submitted
at least 2 weeks in advance to start of camp week. To obtain a
municipal subsidy form call the Municipality of Chatham-Kent
Children’s Services at 519-351-1228 ext. 2131. Enrollment in
camp is not guaranteed without proper camp registration form
completed and submitted to the YMCA.
YMCA Day Camp
The YMCA provides campers with new experiences specific to their interests set in a fun, safe and educational environment. The
YMCA offers something for everyone! At the YMCA, character development is an integral part of our programming. We strive
to develop all campers physically, socially, and emotionally. With excellent camp leaders as role models, campers will naturally
develop relationships and important leadership skills. The YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility are
carefully and purposefully integrated into all our camp programs. YMCA Day Camp...making memories to last a lifetime!

Only applications completed in full and accompanied by
appropriate fees can be processed.
What to Bring to Camp!
Please note that eligibility for the Child Fitness Tax
Credit only applies to programs that run for five (5)
consecutive days or that occur weekly for a minimum
of eight (8) weeks. The YMCA will provide a receipt
reflecting the amount paid in the previous year for
eligible membership and programs in which your

* Swim Suit and Towel * Lunch with extra drinks
Absolutely NO NUT PRODUCTS allowed at camp or on buses.
We are a NUT SAFE camp.

Important Things to Know...
• To learn more about Day Camp refer to our Parent Handbook online at www.ymcaswo.ca
• Expect a call from your child’s camp counsellor a few days before camp starts.
• If your child will not be attending camp on any given day, please call the YMCA before 8:30 am to notify us.
• Day trips subject to change based on availability
• Refund requests of paid fees must be made one week prior to the start of selected camp session by completing a Refund Request
Form at the Membership Services Desk. Refund to be issued less a $25.00 administration fee.
Refunds are not granted for inclement weather.
• All NSF payments will be subject to a $25.00 service charge.
