Sony’s SSC Series enhances its lineup with the addition of four new color video cameras — the SSC-DC693P/
698P/673P/678P. Incorporating a 1/3-type image sensor with DynaView+ technology, these cameras offer an
extremely wide dynamic range for the capture of clear images even in strong backlight environments.
The image sensor also contributes to a high horizontal resolution of 520 TV lines. A typical requirement of roundthe-clock
surveillance monitoring is excellent image quality, allowing users closer inspection of events and
providing detailed and useful information even in dimly lit environments. Therefore, each camera incorporates
a wider Auto Tracing White (ATW) range and AGC (Automatic Gain Control) for operational flexibility.
In addition to these features, the SSC-DC693P/698P offers a “Day/Night” function to further improve their
picture quality. Plus, they inherit other useful features such as Activity Detection and Privacy Zone Masking from
previous SSC Series models. The combination of these features results in high performance, even in less than
ideal lighting conditions.
Producing extremely clear and detailed images, the SSC-DC693P/698P/673P/678P cameras are an excellent
choice for monitoring applications that demand high performance. Moreover, with a variety of convenient
features, they can be installed in various locations such as banking, transportation, communication, and
government facilities.
Features
A Wide Dynamic Range With
DynaView+ Technology
The SSC-DC693P/698P/673P/678P cameras
incorporate DynaView+ technology to capture
high contrast scene that a part of the image may
either white out or black out under normal
shooting conditions. When DynaView+ captures
the image, the exposure time for each pixel is
adjusted to handle the unique lighting conditions
at that pixel location in the image sensor array.
That means that Pixels in bright areas
automatically adjust to eliminate overexposure
and pixels in dark areas automatically adjust to
eliminate underexposure.
As a result, DynaView+ technology achieves
outstanding natural image compared to
conventional wide dynamic technology (double
shutter method) and its wide dynamic range of
120dB* (maximum).

itself which is theoretically calculated by device maker.
Day/Night Function
The SSC-DC693P/698P features “Day/Night”
capability, which provides optimized sensitivity in
both day- and night-shooting applications. As the
scene darkens, an infrared cut filter is automatically
replaced with a clear filter and the camera
switches to black-and-white (B&W) mode, allowing
for operation at a minimum illumination of 0.05 lx
in B&W mode.
Wider Auto Tracing White (ATW)
Range/ATW Pro
ATW is a feature that automatically adjusts the
camera’s white balance to adapt to changing
light conditions. The SSC-DC693P/698P/673P/678P
cameras provide a far wider ATW range of 2,200 K
to 10,000 K, allowing adjustment-free operation
under a variety of light conditions, including
special light sources such as a sodium vapor
lamp. When operating under natural light,
incandescent lamps, or fluorescent light sources,
ATW Pro – which compensates for a color
temperature range between 2,600 K and 7,500 K –
is ideal for reproducing color images closer to
what we see with our eyes.

Activity Detection
The SSC-DC693P/698P provides an activity
detection function that detects changes within an
area of the picture designated by the user. When
activity is detected, the camera superimposes a
blinking “MOTION ALARM” indication on the video
monitor and outputs an alarm trigger signal to
external equipment.
Privacy Zone Masking
The SSC-DC693P/698P is equipped with a Privacy
Zone Masking function. Using this useful function,
unwanted or prohibited areas within an image
can be masked. Up to 6 areas can be selected in
width and height.
Automatic Gain Control (AGC)
The SSC-DC693P/698P/673P/678P cameras are
equipped with the advanced AGC function.
This allows the user to boost camera gain to 48 dB,
enabling viewers of the image to distinguish the
subject more easily, even if it is shot in low light
environments.
The AGC mode is selectable from LOW, MID, HIGH,
or MANUAL. The HIGH setting increases the
maximum AGC gain by 48 dB. The MANUAL setting
ranges from 0-48 dB.
