From the Headmaster
Welcome back!
Welcome back to Durlston for the fi nal half term of the
academic year.
“Feed their brain; feed their potential”
We are enormously grateful to Mrs. Sofi a Moore
(Nutritionist and Durlston Parent), for the superb
presentation she gave on Tuesday evening. All parents
who attended were unanimous in their appreciation of
her input. Mrs. Moore has also been delivering Healthy
Eating Workshops to our pupils, who are equally
appreciative. Thank you!
National Prep Schools Sailing Championships
We are very proud of our Sailing Team, which took part
in the annual Championships at Weymouth just before
half term. Over 100 Prep Schools were represented!
Our under 11 team of Lucy Tait and Tea-Lily Stanton
fi nished a fabulous 5th overall, whilst under 13 Liam
Willis and Jonny Tait fi nished 15th. The conditions were
very testing indeed and these results fi rmly establish
Durlston as one of the top sailing Prep Schools in the
country. Well done to our sailors, and my thanks to Nick
Wright for taking them.
Congratulations to:
Ella Whettingsteel (Year 4), on her outstanding
gymnastics success. Ella travelled to Jersey at half
term, representing her Club in the Jersey International
Gymnastics Championships. Ella returned, wearing her
gold medal!

Durlston Summer Fair - Saturday, 29thJune
Raffl e Tickets will now be on sale for this year’s
Summer Fair. The top prizes this year are an iPad
mini, £150 Elliotts Vouchers, Nespresso Coffee
Machine, six Water Blasters , Sweets Hamper and
there are many more exciting prizes to be won!
Tickets can be bought from Pre Prep Reception,
Senior School Reception and also look out for the
ladies selling them at school at drop off and pick up.
We are still looking for clean Toys, books and
computer games; also good quality chidlren’s clothes.
Please bring them to Reception or place in the box

Please can you help?
If you have any unwanted artificial fl owers, foliage and
insects such as butterfl ies and ladybirds that we could
use to decorate costumes and the set, please could you
bring them in to Reception for the attention of Sam Blay.

All pupils should have brought home a Scholastic
brochure today, with a wide range of reduced price
books for children of all ages. Books can be ordered
online and paid for by parents by going to the web
address http://clubs-school.scholastic.co.uk/durlstoncourt-preparatory
to place an order which will then
be delivered (no delivery charge) to the school and
distributed by Mrs Brebbia. Please do not send orders
into school, but place them on the website directly
and pay for them online. For every £1 of books
ordered, the school receives 20p to spend on books
for our libraries. If you wish to place an order for books
from this brochure, please do so by the evening of
Thursday 20th June at the latest. Any orders placed
after this date will not be processed in time for the
summer holidays. Mrs Brebbia would particularly like
to recommend ‘Wonder’ by R.J. Palaccio (code 818 in
the brochure) which is a wonderfully written, moving,
uplifting story about a disfi gured child going to school
for the fi rst time. If you buy your child one book to
read this summer (ages 8+), please make it this one.
Fundraising Cricket Day on August 4th
Bashley Rydal Cricket Club will be hosting a
fundraising day in aid of The Lord’s Taverners. In
addition to lots of skill stations going on throughout the
day, there will be a celebrity 20/20 match featuring
Chris Cowdrey, Mike Gatting, Devon Malcolm, John
Lever and Lewis Moody - amongst others. All details

Box Office Opens Next Week!
Tickets for the Senior School Prodcution 2013
will be on sale from Monday, 10th June for Cast
member ONLY and for the rest of the school
fromTuesday.
We shall have our new staged seating for the event and
therefore tickets will be sold for allocated seats. Prices
will be £6 for adults (over 18’s), and £4 for children.
Senior School Sports Day - Sat. 22nd June
Pupils will be bringing home sheets to complete
for their chosen events for sports day. If your child
is not able to attend, please notify Mr Cole a.s.a.p.

From Pre-Prep
The Pre-Prep water babies swam beautifully in the
sun drenched outdoor pool this week. They splashed
and laughed and practised swimming on their front
and on their back. The older children whizzed through
the water like dolphins and our younger children are
growing in confi dence a little more each week.
Their initial reluctance to get in the water was soon
overcome by the fun and success they found once they
were in.
It is such a wonderful opportunity for all of the children
and it is a delight, as teachers, to watch them develop.
