Managers all over the w<strong>or</strong>ld are into<br />

Purpose<br />

The aim <strong>of</strong> the qualification is to develop<br />

the applied competence <strong>of</strong> the learner on<br />

an advanced level in mastering analysis,<br />

interpretation and understanding <strong>of</strong><br />

industrial psychological principles and<br />

methods. It puts the learner in a position<br />

to register as an <strong>Ind</strong>ustrial <strong>Psy</strong>chologist<br />

(with the South African Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Board<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Psy</strong>chology) to w<strong>or</strong>k on an advanced<br />

level in the fields <strong>of</strong> Human Resource<br />

Management and <strong>Ind</strong>ustrial <strong>Psy</strong>chology.<br />

It will prepare the learner f<strong>or</strong> further PhD<br />

study in <strong>Ind</strong>ustrial <strong>Psy</strong>chology on NQF<br />

level 8.<br />

Rules <strong>of</strong> access<br />

A potential learner should possess:<br />

•• an honours qualification in<br />

<strong>Ind</strong>ustrial <strong>Psy</strong>chology on NQF<br />

level 7 and have studied statistical<br />

methods <strong>or</strong> analytical techniques<br />

at undergraduate NQF level 6 and<br />

have passed a module in research<br />

methodology at honours NQF level 7.<br />

•• Where applicable: Related experience<br />

which is considered relevant and<br />

sufficient by the Department <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Ind</strong>ustrial <strong>Psy</strong>chology and People<br />

Management will also be assessed.

and Organisational <strong>Psy</strong>chology<br />

•• A publishable article in an accredited<br />

journal based on a approved research<br />

PhD<br />

(INDUSTRIAL PSYCHOLOGY)<br />

NUMBER OF CREDITS: 360<br />

Purpose<br />

This qualification develops the intellectual<br />

and pr<strong>of</strong>essional skills <strong>of</strong> the learner. A<br />

relevant, problem-based, unique, <strong>or</strong>iginal<br />

and executable topic on an advanced<br />

academic level within this discipline<br />

should be researched independently<br />

and rep<strong>or</strong>ted on scientifically, in the<br />

f<strong>or</strong>m <strong>of</strong> a doct<strong>or</strong>al thesis. The thesis<br />

would constitute a decided contribution<br />

to knowledge <strong>of</strong> and insight into the<br />

subject discipline as well as the field <strong>of</strong><br />

research. Qualifying learners would also<br />

display competence in the application <strong>of</strong><br />

related research methodology, and the<br />

proper written and/<strong>or</strong> <strong>or</strong>al communication<br />

<strong>of</strong> the research process and findings.<br />

The qualification can also occur via a<br />

combination <strong>of</strong> independent research and<br />

developmental scientific w<strong>or</strong>k <strong>of</strong> <strong>or</strong>iginal<br />

nature on such an advanced topic. This<br />

programme will prepare learners to reflect<br />

on their own economical applications to<br />

assess the effect there<strong>of</strong> in the holistic<br />

context <strong>of</strong> <strong>Ind</strong>ustrial <strong>Psy</strong>chology within<br />

their everyday lives.<br />

•• An MCom/MPhil qualification in<br />

<strong>Ind</strong>ustrial <strong>Psy</strong>chology on NQF<br />

level 8 and have studied statistical<br />
