<strong>System</strong><br />

The <strong>Anti</strong>-<strong>Rolling</strong> <strong>System</strong> type MOCON<br />

has been developed to reduce the<br />

roll motions of vessels at sea.<br />

MOCON is based on a U-shape<br />

tank system which is equipped with<br />

monitoring and control equipment.<br />

The tank water oscillation is energised<br />

by the roll movement of the<br />

The utilisation of components which<br />

are in operation since many years<br />

ensures a safe and low maintenance<br />

MEASUREMENT AND<br />

CONTROL TECHNOLOGY<br />

The developed control system<br />

combines continuously measurement<br />

of dynamic tank Level and<br />

ship’s roll movement allows a<br />

proportional water flow control. The<br />

measurement results are basis for<br />

adaptation of tank water oscillation<br />

period by tank damping modulation.<br />

The dynamic control system ensures<br />

a harmonic tank water oscillation<br />

and lead so also to a more<br />

harmonic roll motion of the vessel.<br />

LAYOUT<br />

The system layout is based on<br />

highly sophisticated numerical<br />

calculations. CFD-simulations are<br />

carried out with original ship dimensions<br />

for special designs.<br />

Components<br />

HOMIP<br />

The HOMIP is a powerfull PLC with communication,<br />

control and monitoring functions. The touch screen<br />

display is provided with a clearly arranged control panel.<br />

Compact dimensions allow the installation in all kinds of<br />

control panels.<br />

VISUALISATION<br />

The roll period of vessel and tank water oscillation<br />

period are continuously measured and displayed on a<br />

monitor in main control unit.<br />

CONTROL CABINET (1)<br />

The main control cabinet contains the electronic<br />

components for system control and for control data<br />

determination and processing.<br />

CONTROL CABINET (2)<br />

Control cabinets close to the tanks contains pneumatic<br />

and electronic parts for valve operation and data<br />

transmission of tank sensor system.

LEVEL MEASUREMENT<br />

A tank sensor system has been<br />

developed to measure the oscillating<br />

water column.<br />

The Teflon coated diaphragm with a<br />

large surface and special pressure<br />

transfer technology to the epie -<br />

zoresistive sensor make the Hoppe<br />

transmitter resistant against incrustation,<br />

fouling and overpressure.<br />

A powder coated stainless steel<br />

casing prevents galvanic and<br />

material corrosion. Vibration limit<br />

switches are used for liquid Level<br />

detection to avoid sloshing effects<br />

of oscillating tank water.<br />
