Bananas Scores Peak 370 in LA;<br />

Beyond Limits Gains 700 Points<br />

LOS ANGELES—A dozen first runs<br />

grossed in the rewarding 110-370 range,<br />

with the top percentage belonging to firstweek<br />

"Bananas" at the Fine Arts. Pressing<br />

the newcomer for peak honors was surprising<br />

"Beyond All Limits" with a 350 second<br />

week at the Mayan—surprising because the<br />

initial frame for this picture produced a 250<br />

percentage the preceding report week. Behind<br />

this aggressive duo clustered a mixed<br />

quartet of new and holdover features on<br />

In Agreement to Merge<br />

HOLLYWOOD—Technicolor. Inc., of<br />

Hollywood and Movielab, Inc.. of New<br />

York City, announced that agreement in<br />

principle had been reached toward merger.<br />

Under the terms of the merger agreement,<br />

Technicolor will issue 175.438 shares of its<br />

stock in exchange for the 1.407.266 shares<br />

of Movielab stock currently outstanding.<br />

The public stockholders of Movielab will<br />

receive one share of Technicolor stock for<br />

7.62 shares of Movielab. Saul Jeffee. chairman<br />

and chief executive officer of Movielab<br />

and owner of 604.685 shares of Movielab<br />

stock, or 43 per cent of the outstanding<br />

HARTFORD—The ABC first-run 850-<br />

seat Central, suburban West Hartford, ran<br />

matinee kiddies shows comprised of "The<br />

Big Bad Wolf" and "Sleeping Beauty," respectively,<br />

for six days, charging 75 cents<br />

for all seats.<br />

The first film was screened Monday<br />

through Wednesday, the other Thursday<br />

through Saturday.<br />

The week-long "series" was co-sponsored<br />

by the West Hartford department of parks<br />

INDIANAPOLIS—The Indiana Legislature's<br />

decision to keep Indiana on Standard<br />

Time, while most of the nation went to<br />

Daylight Saving Time, is expected to be of<br />

some comfort to drive-in theatre operators,<br />

who have long protested against DST as a<br />

hardship on their business.<br />
